Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

^ said ride.

Average is awful. I was hurting though, which is odd. Oh well. Sun burned. I said 79 miles because I forgot to press start for a mile.

17-18 miles.

I hung on past the 40/75 split to where the road goes over 75, heading west.

Nice! Next time try a loop, way more fun than out and back.

I'm sick of all this Gulf oil slick drudgery. I'm hopping on the Lear jet and going to the yacht races in England. Who's with me?

Thanks, I actually had no idea where I was going. I stayed on the MUP which thins out after you get out of the cities, and then it gets hilly. I knew I couldn't get lost on the mup, so I just followed that back. I've never been to Clarke's Gap before - didn't know it existed. There were two guys + a girl in a pick up that stared me down up a hill. Then I saw them again, and got the same reaction. The guys had long hair and tats. Smoking. I didn't feel comfortable out there, I don't think they like my kind - funny little pants and all.

I felt the Fred leaving my body today, then I had a cheeseburger and a couple IPA's to put it back.

You need to just build it as a TT bike. I don't think bar end shifters will kill the bank and I'm sure you can find some bars somewhere. Going fast by yourself is painful and fun.

The flow of oil into the Gulf is like the flow of BikeForums stupidity into the Internets.

This made me a little nostalgic. So I went to the fridge and got a Modelo. Getting older improves the post-ride drinking options.

82 miles to Carter Lake with my wife sucking my wheel most of the time. No worries, though, she's faster with her new psimet wheels. I did almost get killed by some person towing a boat in the final climb to the lake, but that's to be expected on a hot day. We got passed by about 50 Mazda Miatas. Odd. Exactly the same old dude and his wife in every car.

I bet Pcad has considered the Miata.

Two of my favorite musicians, J. Mayer and K. Urban, together on a new Crossroads (CMT). If you like guitar playing and American music (yes I know K. Urban is Aussie, but he's a huge country star in the US), watch this.

That's a lotta talent on one stage. Big Fun.

The latter however will not end until Gomer, Coasting and Pcad complete the BF Relief Well, which is by no means a sure solution. If we miss, the Gusher of BF Stupidity could continue unabated for years.

No thanks. Collectively, the Brits are an odd bunch. And so are the Americans, so it's cheaper to just stay here.

I did have a post-ride, deck sitting, paper reading, coffee drinking moment. No radio because the Cubs were getting shelled. Endorphin Euphoria.

Oh, I see. Came to this stupid place first instead of reading the news and learning something. Now that's pathetic.

At least you idiots have something to look forward to. Of course we'll never surpass the testosterone engorged ego maniacal delusions of the 33, but we can always try.
