Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That is funny. She asks it a second time even though a guy in the car already answered it ("Idiots").

Hey pCad, did your dog poop on his lawn?
Sam went in his garage and raided his garbage. Why his garbage bags weren't simply in closed cans (like ours) is unfathomable to me, he told me he likes to 'air it out'. So he calls me when Sam ripped open his loose trash, telling me 'this is my last warning' and that if the dog comes over there again 'he won't leave'. This two days after I had discussed my dog roaming free with his wife and should I repair our invisible fence, and she subsequently said that she had spoken to her husband and no worries, that was fine, they would keep the garage doors and garbage cans closed. They have a puppy and the idea was our dogs could play together.

Then this lunatic calls me up screaming at me because my dog got into his garbage. Total ahole.

Invisible fence wiring is repaired. Waiting for a new control unit and then I have to re-train Sam on the fence line. Oh well.

I wondered the same thing, can only guess it's faster than it looks. Even the other guy went off the road.

you really don't want to feud with a neighbour. that makes life very awkward. I chopped down some of my neighbour's shrubs (not the chicago family) and part of a big tree because she saw me doing my side and asked me to do the same for her because she couldn't control the growth. Then she accused me of killing off her plants! I was doing her a favour at her request! That was last year and then last week she tells me how wonderful the flowers are this year and the pruning i did last year really helped. Not a word of apology about accusing me of killing her plants.

Anyone who feels the need to "air out" his garbage is an effing moron. Air it out? Why, so your garage smells like garbage instead of your garbage can?

Effing idiot.

Obviously not slow enough.

As anywhere, I suppose, most of the bikers on that road are reasonable. But a few of them (especially on crotch rockets) think it's their personal race track. And once in a while one of them ends up in a tree.

Then, when the Tennessee Highway Patrol takes the outrageous step of putting a patrol car out there every once in a while, the clowns act as if the sky has fallen and Stalinism reigns the land.

Idiots.

I live in a nice development, but the lots are only about .7 acres. So people are close. Doesn't take much for someone to do something othes don't like. When a hillbilly moves next door, it gets fun... or not so much.

how much do you freds eat when riding? i think i don't eat enough.

i ate nothing for 30 miles to the first feed station where i ate a cupcake, a mini muffin and a banana then nothing until mile 85 where i shoved 2 cliff bars and 2 muesli bars into my mouth as i was close to turning the lights out.

don't blame me. the feed stations ran out of food.

I blame you for not getting to the feed stations fast enough.

I don't ride long enough to need food...... But, 2 years ago, when I rode 82 miles, I didn't eat enough on the ride, finished the end like a zombie.

I usually ride 110 miles and I wind up eating two small packs of Fig Newtons and downing a Gatorade or two. That's it. But then I am considerably less Fredly than most of you idiots.

My 3 dogs don't leave our yard, and they haven't worn their invisible fence collars for years.

It depends on the route. On the century I do that goes through the Dragon I eat a lot at the 50 mile rest stop. Maybe two or three times what you ate. Epic climbing on the VeloVolmobile requires lots of calories.

I love a happy ending.

Bikes: Something Canadian, something Italian, something American, and something German

Well, the Trek Y-33 is dead. I was taking apart the swing arm to make it stop clicking (which it did finally), when I found that the part the shock bolts to (aluminum) where it meets the frame (carbon) is quite loose. Oh well.

HA!

They are border collies, very smart dogs. They know they could if they wanted to, but that they shouldn't, so they don't.

I used to have 2 Norwegian elkhounds at our other house. I don't think it was invisible fence, but some other brand. The smarter of the 2 would go to the fence where it would make the noise, and lie there till the noise drained the battery. When it would stop, he would cross the line.

He should've gotten the other dog to drive into town and pick up some replacement batteries.

See, now the whole point is to kill the stupid batteries, so I'd say that dog is smarter than both of us put together.

Which is no great stretch.
