Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

some gun problems and getting worse but nowhere in the world compares to america when comparing gun crime. we have a big problem with knife crime and kids carrying knives. i won't challenge children misbehaving because there have been a lot of incidents of these kids stabbing strangers.

no death penalty, thank god when someone is let out of prison for a murder he didn't commit.

Exactly. I'd bet Justice exists to a greater extent in your part of the world.

I'm getting a bit over excited. Today I had some excellent news. After 20+ years of avoiding the dentist, I finally went for a check up, trembling with fear. I was expecting a filling at least. Turns out my teeth are in good shape. No problems at all. 20 years and no problems! No painful drilling. Nothing.

I'm actually dumb enough to try something like that. But as I suggested above, unless everyone lives on a flat plain, it's very difficult for two people, much less a group, to come up with a virtually similar course.

not ideal but it would at least not be a mountain vs a totally flat park ride. I think i can get a 60 mile 3,000 ft route together. my usual 75 is nearly 4,000ft. those in mountains should be able to plan something keeping the climbing down to that, no?

i'm sure you could skate with a broken wrist, but i'm sure they'd advice against crashing until it heals. hope you recover quick.

Bikes: Something Canadian, something Italian, something American, and something German

I rode 25 miles this morning. It was nice. I got kind of lost, was following some road or bike path I'm not really sure, and then saw a wooden stick coming out of the road right in the middle. I just kinda thought "why would they put that there?", then the "stick" started running. It was a fox. I followed it a little before it dashed into the woods.

Lol. I was about 30 feet away and it was standing with it's feet very close together, so from my point of view it looked like wood.

It didn't have really dark legs, maybe you can see why I thought that.

this one time i was riding with a friend in the everglades and we see this thing in the middle of the road and I told him to stop it's a snake curled up with it's head up.

It was a turtle.

While we stopped to inspect the "snake" from a distance an alligator started creeping up to us. good times.

from the same day:
