The Fizik Pave saddle my BMC came with was horrible. 60 miles and I was ready to throw it out and sit on my seat post...

Having tried different ones, what do you find are the negatives of the Avatar?

High priced schools are over rated, especially for undergrad.

NY actually has some good SUNY schools. My daughter is in Geneseo, which ranks well on most lists.

patentcad 07-23-10 09:29 AM

I find it odd that the leading industry in upstate NY appears to be private and public colleges and universities, considering the fact that all the private industry has essentially imploded or moved away. If it wasn't for NY City and the immediate metro area (we're on the outer fringes of that here), you could turn out the friggin lights in this idiot state.

Well, weight and comfort on longer rides. It has more padding than the seats I prefer (Road - Toupe and MTB - Phenom), but seems to be less comfortable on longer rides. On some of my older crappier riding shorts with massive chamois, more bunching and pinching of the shorts. I've gotten 30 miles in before the discomfort kicks in, even with my newer more betterer riding shorts. The Toupe shows no sign of discomfort after 30 miles...

I must caveat all of this with the fact that I am a heavier rider than most here. 205... Also on the Specialized saddles, my sit bone measurements put me on a 143 sized saddle. So, get fitted with the right size. Also, weight I am sure plays a part in what saddles will feel like. :)

The third guy in my office is packing up his kid and sending him to Brown. Sent his kids to Princeton, Penn, and now Brown. Smart cookies.

But soon he'll be an empty nester. Then he'll be divorced.

Interesting, as I am getting bunching at times. I wear PI elites, which are supposed to be good shorts. That's the only discomfort I have, so if I can eliminate that, I'm good.

Regardless, those new Zipp 404 all carbon clinchers will be mine. The Pcad Schwag Radar is locked on, and once I target that bogey, I'll light it up sooner or later.

You clowns will be the first to know. Before Mrs. Pcad, that's for sure. She'll never friggin know.

Why can't we have more of these:

A giant sink hole in downtown Milwaukee swallowed up a Cadillac Escalade. Witnesses estimated it to be about 20 feet deep and 15 feet wide.
"The Escalade just went wham!" Pawlik, 46, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Everything went down. The power line went like 'pow' and then I think it was sewer water was just pouring into the hole."

How great would it be if God just sucked all the big ass SUVs down to Hell where they belong? Then Satan could make botto wax them all. And when gsteinb gets hits by the bus, he can armor all the friggin tires too.

Which toupe do you have? Looking at Specialized site, it shows 4 different ones, none of which have gel. But looking at google, there are ones with gel. WTF? I don't think I want gel, I have that in my avatar.

What about the ptap?

Ptap is a problem. It is a 24 hole hub. Plus I spoke to Zipp the other day and they have yet to test the new rims with the Ptap hub. So it may take 6-12 months for a 24 hole version of that CF 404 clincher rim to become available (it is currently 20 holes) or for Zipp to give its blessing to Ptap configurations (I'm sure people will build them up in the meantime regardless). I'll probably wait at least a year and keep my eye on eBay for somebody to sell a set of these used. Hell, maybe it takes longer, but sooner or later I'll make the switch. Easier for me to sell the existing 404/Powertap set on eBay and buy a whole new one if that becomes possible. The new wheels/Ptap would be very pricey, so I'm in no hurry. They'll hit the secondary market sooner or later.

Bike Schwag doesn't stay stupid pricey for very long. It all recycles on eBay and CL within a year or two. And half of that crap is hardly used. I've done very well buying relatively late model high end bike crap on eBay.

I've always said those things were too heavy.

I'll say. Hell, I'm down under 170 lbs, I look in the mirror, think of how those TdF dudes look, and realize I'd have to drop another TEN POUNDS to be even in the vicinity of that lean.

Oh well. I may never get there, but it's fun trying. Food is for Wussy. 5+ hour ride tomorrow. I'll probably gain 2 lbs. And this is why I rarely weigh myself. Why bother?

I've got another one 4 years behind him. This one is the one I made the mistake of introducing her to road cycling. I fixed up her mother's mint 1985 Fuji Royale II and set her up on it. Now she says she hates the DT shifters and the bike isn't fast enough. Here we go.

Sell the current powertap clinchers, buy a quarq (or SRM to keep your DA), and then buy the all carbon clinchers. Problem solved.
