Guess its getting a bit easier now. For 500 dollars more I know for sure its a brand new shiny bike. The TCR Advanced is not in my budget, but the Avail is - and I just LOVE LOVE the TCR cyclocross only this is a double compact and not a triple. See, I don't make it easy, haha.

Seriously, get the bike you're most comfortable with, fit, performance and budget.
edit: I'd be suspect of a bike shop selling a used bike that's less than perfectly tuned.
in other words make sure whatever bike you bike you buy from them is properly assembled.

ugh.
Can you go take your "my d**k's more red, white, & blue than your's" & your ridiculously dated "here's a copy of our home game" crap to a different thread, please?
fungirl's about to drop a grand or so on a new bike and you are sucking every drop of fun right out of it....

The only input I have...I had a Giant many years ago when I was younger and much stronger. It is the only road frame I have ever ridden with so much side to side flex while pushing hard on the pedals. The Cannondale that I just picked up for my son is rediculously rigid. Both of the bikes are MUCH older than what you are looking at, and things could have changed significantly since then.

I agree with this reasoning. Plus, I've had great experiences with Cannondale.

$500 is a pretty steep difference for two comparable bikes, but if it keeps you riding the bike, it will be worth it. FWIW, I would choose the Cannondale for all of the aforementioned reasons and the fact that you could always get a paint job. When you are on the bike, its looks don't usually matter too much

And I am a Giant rider. Go TCR if you can afford it over either. And over here- 09 TCR-C's are still available at sale prices.

It's here!!!! My brand new Giant Avail 2! I bought the bike with fenders, bottle cage, tool kit, saddle bag, wireless computer AND new Shimano shoes....when it was ready I rode it home, a nice 20 km ride. LUV IT! No regrets. What a blast! Trying to add picture so hopefully it works....

Why I bought CANNONDALE(CAAD 9):
1) Made in USA (not for long anymore. they are about to outsource)
2) Race geometry (the avail is race geometry as well like the Synapse. Just not as racy as your 9)
3) Light frame base(bike currently @15lbs) (the giant's frame is pretty light as well and could be just as light with similar parts)
4) Lifetime frame warranty (ditto for Giant)
5) Sub-300g full carbon fork (ditto for Giant)
6) BB30(upgrade consideration) (you win here except on the higher end Giants)
7) HUGE line of accessories and high-quality, cool apparel (buy Capo and look cooler)
8) Long history of victories and competition pedigree (Giant as well)
9) State-of-the-art design and manufacturing methodologies (Have you seen a pic of Giant's factory? They make bikes for Colnago now)
There is really no comparison - I think that's enough reasons...

Hubby must be about 9'10"--Hope he rides but don't loan your bike to him.
Good choice but now we need ride pics and a ride report.

After a few quick rides, today was my very first long ride, well appr. 30 miles. Just in a comfortable pace, to get used to it, to get a good feeling with riding, shifting and braking. Wanted to see if I would feel cramped or back pain, but none of these. It rolls sooooo smooth, and so fast. On my MTB it is much harder work. Have to go back to have the seat checked out. It tilts up and down, height is ok but every now and then I had to stop to level it again. Other than that, which is a minor thing I think, no regrets, LOVE LOVE LOVE the bike. More pics will follow!
