seat and pedals
Hey I need some new pedals and a seat. My seat is too cushy and my pedals are for cleats and I want grippy metal platforms.
Do you know of any site that would give me a good deal, or should I visit the LBS since I'm not sure what size pedals I need (or are they universal for all type bikes).
Also, my sister and her boyfriend bought Academy and Walmart mountain bikes and swapped out their seats. I needed a new seat so tried to fit their's and it seemed like a whole different design.
All I need is a decent saddle that won't pain the perineum and one that isn't so narrow I get wedgies all the time. And in the pedal dept. I think some simple BMX type pedals will work. I'd like to do it cheap if possible since I only paid $100 for the bike and I would probably only ride 20-30 miles on the weekend in one trip.
Oh yeah, if anyone would like my Shimano clipless pedals I would gladly trade. And the seat (looks like a comport avenir ATB) might be ok for the ladies. I don't need anything new or fancy, just something that works. Thanks

FWIW, I think the bars are a tad droopy. I'd adjust them so the bottom of the drops are closer to parallel with ground.
Nice bike for the price.
Those appear to be Look pedals. Probably the older Delta cleats. You may want to hang on to them and if you get a bit more serious about riding buy yourself some shoes and cleats for them.

The walmart seat didn't fit on the bike because they are not compatible. Sounds like the walmart seat and pedals are what you need so just swap out the bike. I'll trade you a nice new walmart bike for that dinosaur you have there.

if the seat is too soft visit your local bike shop. they usually have box full of too hard seats that came off bike.

What kind of pedals are those? SPD-SL's? If so, keep them on there and get some road cycling shoes. Snap a closer pic of those pedals.

From what I can see, those definately look like SPD-SL's. I would keep those on there and get some road shoes w/cleats. It will completely blow away using BMX pedals as far as efficiency. Once you go clipless, you will not go back to platform or toe clips. If you still think you don't want those pedals, send me a PM, I'll take them off your hands. Heck, I will trade you a nice set of toe clip pedals that are in new condition for them.
