Yeah more i look at it less i like it. Was trying to justify getting it b/c i was going to get a decent used deal for an EVO

Thinking of swapping frames to an evo, but i can't decide if i like this colorway or not. What do you guys think? Part of me really likes it, and other part thinks i might get tired of it.
Other part of me says stop spending so much money dumb***.

Love that frame, it just screams AMERICA!

Blasphemous!!!!

It may be ugly but it is an EVO. Sweet bikes.

Ugly?! Only ugly parts to me are the bartape and the chainring. I love the frame, although I'd rather get this color:

I might be mistaken, but that frame isn't a high mod. Not that it makes it any less of an evo, but If I were to pay that much for the bike, I would spring for the High mod version.

That's actually the colorway I want

The one I rode (and the black/red) aren't hi-mod. But hi-mod costs like $2000-3000 more!

SuperSix Evo Red = $4450 MSRP
SuperSix Evo Red Racing (hi-mod) = $7200

I'm sure there's other differences that make up for that ~$3000 gap (like the fancy wheels on the racing version), but still crazy expensive.

I think this colorway is cool in an off-beat kind of way. It's untypical. The red kind of clashes with the blues, but provides necessary contrast with the the two tones of blue which compliment each other very well. The white bar tape and classic bend bars add pop, a 'pro' touch, and compliment the frameset lettering. All in all, I think it says "legit. pro." The black/silver/red colorway is just way too generic and 'safe' in my opinion, and I hate how the red "evo" blob on the top tube sticks out so much. That alone makes it a no-go for me.

Thanks. I know the "official" CAAD10 top cap (extension) fits snugly inside the carbon steerer, adding reinforcement to the stem bolt clamping pressure. Does this top cap fit as snug?

You can see in the picture that the top cap is a lot narrower than the expander plug, and the plug is supposed to fit snugly into the steerer tube. In other words, I'd say the top cap doesn't fit snugly at all.

Here is a retro CAAD3 I use to own. Chorus 9spd, later added WCS/Reynolds Ouzo Pro fork, then sold to buy a new CAAD10.

Hmmm last couple pages has more EVO Hi-Mod talk than CAAD. Nagrom, Longbeach.....are we losing the thread gents?

Did this become " the cult of SS"?

seymour1910 04-25-13 06:30 AM

What year is that CAD3 BTL?

Check the "for sale" thread sub-section at the top of road cycling section. Last I knew, someone was trying to sell a black/white 54cm CAAD10 frameset.

I'm not certain, but could guess about 1999 or 2000. It still had a 1" head tube if that helps.

I know this isn't the greatest picture, and since it's been taken i've changed the bar position and raised the saddle quite a bit to get a better leg extention, I still thought I would post it. My first real road bike, a 1999 Caad 4 with full campy chorus and record shifters.

Nice. I could've got a frame just like this on Ebay for around 200 bucks, which isn't a bad price down here, but I hesitated and missed it. I was new to Ebay back then, so I assumed they popped up all the time, but they don't. It took me nearly 2 years to get a CAAD, which is an old, dented CAAD8 for 35 bucks, without a fork.
One day i hope to get a Saeco with the white stickers. Hot, hot hot. :D

Awesome. Love the CAAD + 10sp Campy + Praxis rings. Stem and housing colors work well. I would ditch the stickers on the wheels though.

THSdrummer 04-25-13 06:39 PM

That is one mean, clean looking beast right there.

I love it. I want HQ images to use as a computer wallpaper. Sooo good.

Nice build!

BoomMcNasty 04-25-13 07:10 PM

JRhea,
I don't care for the frame alone but the complete bike is very nice!
