Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have seen some pretty nice bikes with that set up, usually near liquor stores.

Bikes: Have two wheels

I'm not even sure why. It didn't even seem to be headed for a lock.

I'm not sure I should say. It must be controversial. I might get disappeared.

Some guy works at a resort hotel. Hands out cuesheets for cycling guests. One 50 mile route had a line that said Right on Pima Rd. There happens to be an 8-lane freeway called Pima FWY before you get to Pima road so the guest got on that.

Hilarity and concern ensued in the thread.

I'm guessing yanked at OP's request?

The best parts were the hospitality worker/tourguide pissing contest.

Legal aspects were firing up pretty good. A little hotshot internet lawyer testosterone coulda set it off like a tinderbox.

Sometimes the manner in which this place is run makes zero sense.

Along those lines, Monday I was riding along and (after-the-fact) came across one of these signs warning of mosquito spraying.

wut #1

How is someone supposed to know where they are spraying? I was riding all over the west end of the county last weekend. They're not going to have obvious signs on every road. By chance, I happened to notice the newspaper article on Twitter, otherwise I wouldn't know about spraying (where I ride) this weekend.

wut #2

(Even more serious) West Nile Virus? Just down the road? I don't want to die from a mosquito bite.

The OP could have deleted it himself, before we blame big brother.

When I was little, I used to chase after the trucks and play in the cloud of chemicals. My parents would yell. I turned out mostly okay.

I've never noticed any signage about skeeter spray around here. I've seen the little trucks out and about however.

I don't think a lot happens near housing, though. They just hit up all the part time lakes and other stagnant water spots every summer.

Usually mosquito control is done here by raising and lowering lake levels at strategic times. I was surprised to learn spraying was underway.

I wonder if coasting has a home brew remedy for West Nile Virus. They've got to have mosquitoes in Taiwan.
