Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: 2013 Ridley X-BOW

I like driving my hybrid Honda CR-Z in sport mode.

I choked on 600 dollars to buy my first bike last week but easily spent 6000 on my latest sewing machine a couple of months ago.

I figure if I can get my DH to ride with me on weekends, he'll buy the 1400 dollar bike he was looking at and I can ride it during the week.

After reading the posts, I feel so much better knowing you men are admiring me from behind. Too bad I'm the only one with a bike out where I live, but if I head to a trail, I won't be so worried.

When I go into the blu-ray section of a store, I know exactly what my DH wants and already has (you try keeping track of 1500 movies and documentaries) I figure if he doesn't have it, it's either in the mail or he doesn't want it.

Even with the tanned and toned physique, the lycra and the fancy carbon bike, I'm really not that fast.

I bought my bike on sale.

I rode in some rain yesterday and hit every puddle I could, hoping that it would ruin my current shoes so I would have an excuse to buy new ones.

What's wrong with that? Thought that was standard operating procedure... at least it's what I do. Not because I'd buy anything different if she knew, but because I don't dig the hassle and it's just easier that way.

I also told her my new-to-me-but-used bike was $40 instead of $75... because whyTF not?

ok yeah, pretty much... or staying in practice? Really not sure why on that one, maybe it was force of habit regarding bike-related expenses...

I don't lie to her about important stuff though...

Are you implying that bikes are not important?

Not even for a second! My apologies for the poor choice of wording.

I should have said "about large expenses" or something more to that effect.

Cheers

-When I commute to work, I wear my lycra around the office until I get a break in meetings to go shower - I think I look cool.
-I love passing anyone and everyone, regardless of what kind of bike they have/what kind of rider they are.
-When I'm out riding in street clothes, I try and beat anyone wearing full kit, just because.
-I poop at work at least 2-3 times a day. I take my time.
-I didn't NEED a new edge 800, but wanted to be able to show off my routes (and secretly compare them to people I know who are better than me in hopes of beating them).
-I feel like a total ******* telling being what I do for a living because I feel like I'm showing off. I just say I work at a tech company. Really not sure why, I just do.
-I like the smell of my piercings (only other people with piercings will know what I'm talking about - especially those with gauged ears)
-I tell me parents I spend a lot less on bike stuff than I actually do. I'm 25 and financially independent - no clue why I feel the need to do this.

I am not too far off, either... I ride on it maybe once a month, and use it as a bike stand daily.

When grinding slowly up a hill, I will intentionally run over a millipede, because I like the "crunch" sound they make. It's the "crunch" sound that does it for me. I would never roll over a worm. That would be wrong.
