Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

On the Tue/Thurs ride that I participate in once in a while, I condiser it a good ride if I'm not the last one to come in.
Sometimes I start that same ride 15 minutes early by myself and consider it a good ride if they don't catch up to me!

I fell last week going uphill around a curve at 6 mph scratched my bike and flattend a tire. Yesterday was the 1st time out since then and the curve scared me. I was afraid of the same little hill.

I did 91 miles to see if my new saddle was comfortable for long rides.

I've decided I hate my Big Dummy, and want to sell it so I can get a 'cross bike.

I'm really mean to my race bike. Just went 6200 miles on my chain before I changed it, and rarely clean it. It's covered in dirt, bugs and cytomax that spills out of my bottle.

I had a 0-mph clipless fall yesterday.
Doing the rest of the ride with a bloody knee made me feel all tour de france-ish.
Later me knee swelled up and I had trouble walking and I have been hiding that fom my wife so she won't yell at me for riding the next few days.
and I'm a dork

Bravo Timothy!!!

I had the same thing happen to me a couple of years ago. I fell going about 5MPH's on the local mup. Crank gashed the bottom of my calf open. Continued my 50 mile ride, not knowing it would require 11 stitches. Didn't go to the Dr until the next day at work because I wanted to enjoy my weekend.

Bikes: Specialized Tarmac E5 S-works, Specialized Tarmac Comp

My car has been sitting outside broken down because I spend my money on my bikes

I ride an 05 Specialized E5 tarmac s-works and an 06 tarmac comp with mixed components because I sold the original components to pay for school....

I wear knock-off specialized chinese jersey kits with trek socks. Bib shorts are not to something to be going cheap on

I'm fat weighing 173 6'0 but and pretend I've started my bike run from many miles away when a cyclist approaches my tail

I was always the skinny kid and spent my 20s trying to get bigger, now that I just started cycling, now I want to get skinnier

In the spirit of Gattica, I ride as far as I can til I have nothing left, and save nothing for the ride back

I hate being a newb at this sport, but love the continued discovery it brings (true for me in most things actually)

I think my legs look like woman's legs

I believe that if I'm going to suck at this sport while learning, I might as well look good

I'm ashamed of my speed, I thought I would be faster

The first time I rode on to a brick street, it was such a shock, I almost fell off the bike!

How do people race on this stuff, anyway?

I just ordered a Selle Titanico X. Eff the number of grams I'm adding to my ride. I just pray it will let me ride more than 50 miles before making my butt hurt.

I constantly monitor bicycle related stuff that i can't afford on ebay and CL. Sometimes i buy them even though i shouldn't.

GF and i were supposed to got to Jamaica this summer, but that money went to a new bike instead. She isn't aware that is the reason we didn't go.
