Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I drilled 4 holes in the frame of my aluminum triathlon bike to fit a rear rack and I've been riding almost 6000 kms without any problems!

What an awesome thread. Lol

Here goes my contribution:

Everyone thought I was insane when I spent $500 on a hybrid, now they think I lost my mind when I spent 3k on a road bike.
I definitely am too fat for this sport 6'3 236 lbs.
I have something against people who ride only Cannondale, Trek, Specialized and so on because they never knew other brands existed.
Also, I've been obsessive over keeping my things in perfect condition (phones, car paint, bike paint, etc.) since I was 7.
....Oh and I'm a BMW ******bag.

I've been browsing bf for over year and creepily watched over all of your lives- and yet just signed up a couple weeks ago.
I've bought bikes on on clist even though they don't fit me- I've convinced myself that I do it for parts or future barters/projects.
I live in Newark and salmon when necessary.

I now ride almost daily since i bought my bike 3 weeks ago. I eat clean 90% of the time as of 6 months ago and have lost 30 lbs. Because of my p90x workouts, jogs, bike rides, and insanity, I excuse myself for gorging on entire boxes of fruit snacks in the drive home from the grocery store. And consuming junk food 2 days each week.

Also someone brought donuts to work today, I ate 9 of them. I am going back for another shortly. I have no remorse

I seriously tried to become an alcoholic, and failed miserably.

My cadence is in the 90-110 range and I'm fairly sure I'm still mashing.

Sometimes I am riding through a deeply forested area in the evening. It is very shaded, in the evening the sun slants through in golden beams dappling the green and brown. As I get out of the saddle and race up this one hill I imagine at times that it is not me but Daniel Day Lewis in Last of the Mohicans, and it is not a handle bar I hold but a Kentucky musket. Behind me Uncas and Chingachtook, in front of me I am racing to capture Alice and destroy Magui.

well it took me longer than expected, but i just watched the final stage of the TdF yesterday.

i skipped over a lot of stage 18 and 20 since they weren't really racing for anything til the finish line sprint, but i watched the 3-5 hours of coverage of every other stage.

It's a lot like cycling: either you have the genetic make up for it, or you don't.
