Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

question on fizik arione saddle angle

I am putting a Fizik Arione saddle on my indoor trainer bike.
To me the saddle looks like it is mostly flat until the tail section and then it kicks up a bit. How do you set this saddle? Slightly nose up, slightly nose down, flat?

Thanks

Mine is flat, ignoring the tail. So the mose and mid section is flat and the tail rises

Thanks, it looks like I need to adjust the setback when compared to my old saddle as well.

I used to have mine flat but it was kind of uncomfortable when I'd try to get low like in the drops. The nose of the saddle would press against sensitive areas. So I lowered it and now it's slightly nose down. To me, it feels more comfortable that way. But I think I'm in the minority and assume that most people just have it flat.

I put a level on each of mine to get them right. And I have that saddle on three bikes.

Dead level. Love the length and those flex-wings.

Perfectly level on mine when I used it for 4-5 years on 3 bikes (great saddle).

For what it is worth, I bought a TT bike 2 years ago that came with this Profile Design saddle. It is almost the exact same shape and size as the Arione but with a small amount of extra padding on the nose. I am a little more comfortable on really long rides with this saddle and now own 3 of them instead of the Arione.

The front half of mine is horizontal. The back tilts up a little.

I just so happened to put a level on mine today (was moving the saddle forward a tad and wanted to preserve the angle). Mine is almost dead flat with a level going across the length from front to back.

It's personal preference also. Start with the front part level. If that doesn't work for you, make very small changes. If you get saddle sores, double check saddle height and fore-and-aft before giving up on the saddle. I find them to be very comfortable provided your fit is correct. Otherwise, they will be a bear.

Mine is flat, and I set it with a level too. Have it on 2 bikes, a third has a Scott saddle with the exact same shape that I set up the same. The thing I'm looking forward to is the Kurve with Arione shape. Too bad it's only in black and in metal rails

Thanks

I set mine up this way too. I am going to do the sufferfest angels tomorrow, and I will keep an allen wrench handy just in case it gets uncomfortable :-)
