He went on to live more than 15 years because Machka and her folks were attentive enough to keep up the shots of insulin. There was no way Sabre was going to die before he had to. |

If you didn't take a breathanalyzer test, how did you warrant a DUI? Isn't that a requirement? I'm glad you are a polite drunk - some are nasty i.e. my uncle. I would think your wake up call was her lying, cheating, in addition to denying the relationship. It seemed she faired really well from your letter that you were worried she'd commit suicide over. People can't make you do things you don't want to do. It was your choice to let her reel you back in & remain in denial. For heaven's sake, don't ride by her house or any place you could bump into her. There is no need to be concerned about her life.
I'm Bentley's #1 fan and still think he has better qualities than Dolly. Stick with Bentley and your sister, you'll be happier. Wishing you much good health & happiness in 2013. The lying, the cheating, all the rest. She always has manipulative answers for all of it. I was always in doubt, wanting to believe her lies. The final version of the letter wasn't as harsh and abrasive as the first couple of drafts. She still found it upsetting. When she called me, she had only read parts of it. She told me she wanted to burn it. She read the rest of it on the phone with me. It still was an indictment of her actions from my perspective. No matter what I'll always love that troubled woman. I'll probably be haunted by her memories until the day that I die. It's how I deal with it that will be the difference. I won't be riding by her house anytime soon. My license is suspended for a minimum of 3mo, and she lives 70miles away. I have a feeling she will make it up here sooner than later though. I'll just have to control myself. |

As for you being haunted by this girl forever, I don't think so. You'll be haunted by her until you meet the girl you're going to marry, which may happen a bit faster if you stop getting DUIs. |

I've deleted her before. She'll just add me again in a few years. Then after several months of sitting on the request I'd break down, and approve it. As much as I should hate her, I can't. Besides, I want to make sure when things are going good for me, she can see I moved on without her.
If you are over her or want to get over her you shouldn't give a crap if she knows you are doing well or not. That is part of the whole "it's over" thing. I don't care to see how my ex's are doing. I hope they are great but other than that it's none of my business. It's none of my ex's business how I am doing either. |

The only reason I never got a DUI is I quit drinking before I got one. I was pulled over three times in the last 5 years of my drinking and was let off every time. I don't think that would happen today (this was like 20 years ago). And I was never really that big of a drinker in comparison to most of the drunks I know. But it really never worked for me, I never had 'a couple of beers' in my life. I was always happier with a case and an eight ball. That never ends well.

Now that I am off the bike for a month I may as well come back in here more often. SA, DUI? I didn't read the back story (well, I know the way back story). |
Back in Toronto. Vacation over.
The Stealth didn't asplode on the drive here and actually did better than before, so it appears that all the work I did on it paid off. Niner and I went to see "This is 40" before I left as our last night of holiday date night. Hell of a movie. In many ways, it was like looking in the mirror. Some screamingly funny parts in it too. But the most surprising part of the movie is that the male protagonist (and one of his buddies) is a cyclist. There's a couple of scenes where he is having breakfast in his kit (Livestrong, Primal) and a couple of scenes where he is out with the local group ride - and no mention of this is ever made by any character in the movie. Nobody ever comments on the cycling. No jokes about Lycra. No wisecracks about a grown man on a bicycle. It's presented as being entirely normal. Cycling truly is the new golf. DG |

SA, .116 is not a small margin. It is 50% over the limit. Many of us have crawled into a bottle after a bad breakup, so you are not alone. Take your lumps (which you are doing) and be careful. The phase passes quickly. You effed up, it isn't about not eating, it isn't about being less than others blow, its about screwing up, putting yourself and others in harms way, and don't, do it again.
Good luck. Best wises. |
I would love to stay and play but heading out to ride...then swim....

I know enough people who have served jail time in excess of 6 months for multiple DUI. I know three who have died directly from drinking. Used to work in a bar, and looking back, I don't know how I ever worked in an environment that basically poisons its customers. Some drive with an Interlock device, and it looks expensive and embarrassing. There is no good ending to any story that involves 'I only blew <a certain amount>'.
I'll get off my soapbox now, but only after concluding with the fact that quitting drinking basically saved my life. It doesn't sound like drinking provides any redeeming value in your life. I ain't judgin', just calling it real. You seem like a nice person and good rider, SA. Focus on that, not on this negative influence in your life (both the girl and the drinking). |
stop being so serious. he doesn't need any help. it's her.
