My bike is about 8.8kgs. The only thing I bought for it that was superlight are the wheels, which are sub 1400g - everything else is scrounged or budget driven. With Keo's, 10sp DA, Zero Gravity brakes, actual non-tandem forks, no strips of inner tube under the bar tape to fatten them up (
) etc. etc., I could drop close to a Kg easy.A Tephra Ti in Hitchys size would be about 1350g, a Ti SL would be about 1200g, and a steel version would be about 1500g. ( My frame, size 'extra huge' is 1750g )

Ok, so you guys don't think much of the titanium chain. My frame is titanium, the bars, crank bolts, and cassette are all titanium, and it still weighs about 16kg. It's a mountain bike. A tandem at that. But there's no Tandem MTB American Married To Aussie Chook thread, so I gotta read yours to see what's going on. I could have bought my brother's Campy equipped Litespeed for under US$1000 before I moved. Maybe then I'd fit in? I can always steal it from him on my next trip overseas if it's worth anything here. Ok, I'll shut up now.

I think he looked at my Fuji Touring with some disdain, then said: "Yeah, it is. It's nice", then went back to looking into the middle distance through his fancy shades. Must have been some wanky tourist from the mainland waiting for his inferior ride partner to catch up.

It's going to be one of those days. My only easy ride for the week (E1/E2) was spoiled by a howling fargin norwester. Who needs gale force wind at 4am??
I've already had to bite my tongue in another thread to prevent an international incident of some magnitude. It took quite some time for the good and bad angels on each shoulder to sort it out for me. I nearly pressed the post button a couple of times, but in the end sanity prevailed. I hate when that happens. It's poor form for a professional ***** stirrer.

Don't mentioned Litespeed in front of slvoid and ultra-g. Especially the price. A sore point, Hitchy and I believe.
