Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sorry I missed the ride on Saturday ... the significant other went scuba diving & I went snorkling instead. A rather tasty 2.5 lb crayfish was consumed on Saturday night ....

Decided to spoil myself and rode the roadie into work today. Just as well, given the rather speco car crash on Footscray road which spread debris in all directions resulting in me having to CARRY my bike across the intersection to avoid the glass, twisted bits of metal etc etc! Not sure I could have done the same with the hybrid!

Did you hear the crash? I always seem to get a "suck it up" kinda feeling and a smile on my face whenever I hear it these days while I'm riding. One or a coupla cars off the road for a while. Heard one early last week on the Tasman Bridge, then another shortly after. Rear-enders.

Wouldn't wish it on my nearest and dearest, though.

Oh dear, it does seem to be a crash kinda weekend...

I would have to say that I was the only fat guy there. Wattsy could probably lose a couple, but he's not exactly Jonathan Coleman. I'm telling ya, he's a dead ringer for Kyle McLachlan https://www.eonline.com/Facts/People/...8,9814,00.html

Hitchy is nothing what I expected; for some reason I thought he'd be about 6'1", but he's more like 5'9".

Thylo has reddest hair you've ever seen, and he's about 6'13"

I already knew SJP

We just plodded along down to Chelsea and back to Cafe Racer, but I think Hitchy wanted to have a bit of a grind between Mordy and Black Rock.

Oh yeah .......I was late......sorry

Why did they even go back out after lunch? I rekon the fix is on here. They've all got a ton of dough in on the game ending up a draw so they were putting on a go-slow. Bloody pathetic.

[edit] Farkin. Look at the radar. They're rooted. https://mirror.bom.gov.au/products/IDR462.shtml

I've got a ball doctoring tip for you. I used to take doctored balls to cricket training.

I superglue the whole seam (all the stitching and the middle bit), let it dry over night, then
smooth it all out with a file. If it's a newish ball, it will kick, bounce, seam and fly all over the place!!

And I also used to use greasy, clear shoe polish

That's awesome!!!! I've heard of dubbin to get the shine going, but not superglue. That's gold.

Oh so the reviews have started sans wattsy?..........& its 5'10 & 1/4.....the 1/4 counts too!......ok, well I had already met Wattsy, Tiger is a monster......fair dinkum, he's that big & his hair is that red, if he's ever struggling for a quid he could rent himself out as a lighthouse!

531 has no ears......I got the impression he was embarrassed to be seen with us!........& has a turn of pace. Coming back into mordy he shot off & it was all I could do to pull back the 'break'....way to hot for that sort of behaviour....not nearly as fat as he might like everyone to think......good legs (he bike riders can say that without any *****exual overtones! )....& he was late

SJP is way to little to be hanging out with the fat club...thankfully he didn't seem inclined to wanna push back into the wind

who else?....ah yeah,.....ed.......didn't turn up

Jeeez, why? Was it because i had Kathy Watt shorts on?
Yes, Ed, i bought some Kathy Watt shorts because they are $65. Does make me a bike shop boy? I hope not. Carey Hall seems like a good bloke

By the way, Hitchy, I was so busy saying "g'day", and checking out everybody's bikes that I forgot
to appologise for being late....

Carey Hall is a nice bloke....memories of 1991 (?) are fully erased, methinks.

He'd make an awesome track coach.

I don't need such tactics!!!!

lol, nah, I'll try that for sure. Usually in the two day games if we don't have a real umpire, I'll take the ball home and get some dubbin into it. Might try the superglue trick as well. I take it, it's easily noticable though?
