Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Na, I didn't go.

How hard is it to get a team in there?

There's no Pro Motion team this year

That's how I feel about the Beach Rd rides, which sort of defeats the purpose of
having a schmiko bike. I'm a bit surprised you use the LOOK on The Hell Ride

There not usually any teams in the 'B' grade...(well not officially anyway)....the 'A' grade stuff is usually whoever wants to put a few bucks into the kitty....I don't think it's expensive....the prize money isn't huge & i reckon by the time they flog the TV rights, a couple of 'dinner with the stars', a major sponsor or 2 & you'd cover that alright. No-one is getting appearance money i wouldn't think

So there's no chance Pro Motion missed out due to lack of money?

Do you know the HLP Ridewiser guys? It's Rob Crowe's team, I think.

I jumped on the back of 5 of them flying down Beach Rd behind a motorbike. I don't think they were happy.

We had to get the tank drained, and WE HAD TO WAIT OVER 4 HRS FOR THE RACV!!!

So, we were up all night, and got home at 12pm UUUGGGG boo hoo

The local RACV guy basically bullshitted to us and went back to sleep, deciding he
wasn't gunna get there 'til he was good and ready, which was 8:30am
What a ripper....thats typical of Hosking.......

Yeah so am I!....actually the 'Hell ride' ian't that bad as long as you keep your wits about you....& stay near the front....it's the ones from the middle back that uaually cause the problems. The bay crits are a bit different....skinny little courses designed primarily for TV & spectators...in the B grade, anyone can enter, so you get a lot of different standards of rider in there....& for the first few days thay all think they can win!.....A couple of years ago they were racing outside 'crown' on the final day (guess who put all the money in?)....it was a light drizzle on this hot dog circuit. The sharpest turn was across Tram tracks....in the rain....need I say more?...sure was a good spot to watch bike carnage though

Sure sure. Hey Hitchy? What's the better ol 531 was doing his mate a favour by filling his truck up while he went for a piss. And with old 531 being a city boy and thinking all the liquid that comes out of those hoses at the servos is the same (all stinks and gives you a sore old fella if you spill it on your lap) that he just picked up the nearest pump and started pumping away?

Blaming it on your mate 531? That's terrible.

Been there, done that, best fit of all. The original knicks were Cimas women's, and I went the Cimas again expecting a similar fit and fabric. Not so.

I'm tempted to go down the same "road" again... the wider chamois is what I think I need.

3 words for ya.....assos, assos, assos......let us know if you have trouble sourcing them, we've got the H/O shop for Oz in sth melb. if you email 'em, they'll put you on the mailing list & you can order over the phone etc.....(not sure whether they do internet sales)....it really is the best, but bloody expensive....but it lasts longer than other stuff as well so it may be more economical in the long run

Got Netti's for xmas. They were supposed to be dear ones. My 10 year old Netti's were comfy as. These pricks of things have seams in all the wrong places and my bollocks get stuck in all the wrong places as well.

I bought some Nettis for about $80. I've had them about 6 months now and they are still ok.

Past your bed time, spotty.

You won't be able to get up for your usual 7am ride
