Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That's it. Now back to cricket before Saccy gets cranky.

[edit] The Colt Anaconda is hardly concealable.

All this talk about guns has scared everyone away. No cricket on today? It's a crap day for me on ebay too.

I had some commuter lights, skewers, and some disc hubs for MTB's, and a derailleur. There's also some Dura-Ace cleats and Fox gloves. We're just waiting for some new stuff to arrive.

I'd be careful using that word Ugg a well. Some seppo went and took out a trademark on it, remember? He'll probably come round to your place to serve a notice to sue for a million bucks.

To late. I spat the dummy and told the boss I wasn't doing anymore of the stinkin work he's paying me for and pissed off and did an 80km ride. Even it sucked.

I'd be like Tim the Yowie man and claim it was my middle name and that I was just refering to myself.

Don't be too ashamed to fit and buy ladies nicks

They have no seam down the middle, so less perenium irritation.
They are usually thicker, so less saddle soreness.
The chamois and padding cover a larger area, meaning more overall comfort if you get the right size.

On the down side, ladies nicks look like ladies nicks from behind. The wider and thicker padding area means they jutt out from your butt like the lip of an aircraft carrier, but I don't care so much. My arse is also very happy with the arrangement.

BTW: I alternate between ladies and Castelli (which have NO PADDING, just chamois). Call me a girl, but I had to start out that way when I was 22kg heavier. The fleshy bits under my pelvic bones would never have forgiven me if I hadn't.

Hope someone cares:

Played in Mulwala last night, and we drove home coz we finished early (1am).

At 4:15 am in Avenel, Hosking put 56 litres of leaded petrol in his diesel, but luckily didn't start it.

We had to get the tank drained, and WE HAD TO WAIT OVER 4 HRS FOR THE RACV!!!

So, we were up all night, and got home at 12pm UUUGGGG boo hoo

The local RACV guy basically bullshitted to us and went back to sleep, deciding he
wasn't gunna get there 'til he was good and ready, which was 8:30am

Is the Avanti not as nice to ride compared to your old 853?

What sort of frame was the 853, and what fork did you have?

Eh? Why didn't you just push the bush basher up the road away from any street lights, pull the fuel hose from the tank and drain the cocktail into the gutter (causing an environmental disaster), then push it back and have another crack at putting the wrong fuel in?

The avanti is actually pretty nice to ride....but I do miss the 853. It was a 'cecil walker' that a mate had built for him.....he had to sell it after he wrote off someone elses car (no insurance), he was about the same dimensions as me....so it fitted ok. Dunno what the fork was (alu steerer)...it had no markings on it except 'cecils' advertising.....very nice ride....I was heart broken when it died. The avanti is a surprisingly good frame, i'll probably keep it (if the missus doesn't notice an addition to the family!)

I wanted to get changed and start doing my stretches, abs, and "prehab" exercises, but I would've blown my cover.

We was gunna, but the RACV guy said he'd be there by 5am, so we thought we'd wait.

Wasn't me, it was him, and his car.

Reckons he wasn't concentrating, and the shitty old Caltex pumps weren't clearly marked

That 'B' grade event is pretty frantic though, specially the 1st few days when they all think they are gunna win....I wouldn't be riding me best bike in it, thats for sure
