Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hey Ed, remember a Carnegie guy named 'Clinton'? Big, chubby, loud-mouth, with no conditon in his legs, and the fattest face you've ever seen. Must be about 40 by now.

Anyway, saw him wobbling down Beach Rd., as fat as ever, on a Litespeed.

All Nestle is bloody poison. Hang on, all instant coffee is poison.

Anyway, only another 10 min of work to go

Yep....know him well. Fat (and tanned, from memory.....) as buggery. Litespeed, blue shorts, one of the old, yellow Carnegie club tops.

Yeah, always had a tanned, fat face..........

One story (I've probably got it wrong because I wasn't there): some young guy (I think wore glasses), won a race, and raised his arms as he crossed the line as if he'd won The World Championship....so Clinton smashed 'cross the chops.

Howdy lads, just popped in to give you an update. Weathers farked in Noosa, done nothing but rain for the last 3 days. Currently having a thunder storm. Supposed to be sunny by Thursday. Will try and get some photo's of the native wild life then.

BTW drinking lot's of beer.

...sounds like someone you would take great joy in making suffer in races.....we used to have a guy who was a real smart arse too...he'd go off up the road by himself very week without fail...he'd annoy us so much we'd just leave him there...we'd even slow right down to avoid catching him if need be......then with a few K to go.....pick him up...& then attack straight away.....he'd invariably get dropped....& then do the same thing again the following week...duh

Days 1, 2 and 3 were ugly....and then yesterday I was hit with a massive headache and nausea at about lunchtime, but overall, much, much better. Don't have that dopey, fogged, drug-fukked feeling in the morning before coffee #1.

Hee hee

Hope this ain't you, but I hated the big blokes who had NO fitness, hardly even trained, but were reasonable sprinters, who did NOTHIN' for the whole hour, then tried to push up towards the front to win...............but I s'pose that's racing.

I used to kill myself in breakaways, just to try to make them succeed, even if it meant I was fukd at the end.

By the way, it sounds to me that I'm all talk, but I only raced for three seasons.

As I've said before.....too gutless

Mate...with the golden view of hindsight, my career looks better than Eddy Planckaert's.

don't get me wrong...we didn't 'do him over' cos he went for the break every week....i love a break myself...nah we 'did' him cos he was a w!nker & no-one liked him...he thought he was god's gift to cycling!...he'd always have some excuse about why he didn't win...little knowing that we were sticking it to him on purpose...he never woke up. I remember once we had a pack of about 10...we'd agreed the 1st four across the line would go in 'the chop'...he finished last of the bunch & *****ed & carried on for weeks later that he'd sat up in the sprint...(when actually we blocked him on purpose) & he reckoned he shoulda got $$$....w!nker

Spot on.

First 4 months there was no security, so the brawls would keep going for about 10 minutes until they spilled outside.

One night these bikers wanted to kick the Sh1t out of Hosking, I think just becasue he had gel in his hair
