Ah yes fellas, Summer has arriven!
I do have a confession regarding todays ride though. I got passed by a Pom on a fukkin Seven Axiom Ti with DA and Ksyriums while tootling along at a leisurely 28kph today, who then decided to drop back to 26 just to annoy me I think. So I thought.....hrm.......I'll pass him, sit on 30 and see what happens. So he passes me again.
Then it was on for young and old. My easy turn the legs over ride turned into a race. Unfortunately, I couldn't drop the bastard! I was hammering the last few k's into Mordy, full tuck, 42kph and the bastard was sucking my wheel! AAARRGGGHHH!
Obviously this means that Titanium must be faster than Steel ( both of which are faster than carbon, judging by all the Treks I passed today ) and I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that I weighed about 20kgs more than this guy
Need.....more.......power.......
Okay, beer'o'clock. Later. Oh yeah, go for a ride tonight. Major eye candy on Beach Rd.
Yes, I am a Heathen.

Yes, I am a Heathen. You should've done my patented "Beach Road sucker punch', where you pass the dude, sit on about 35kmh, but pretend that you're going at about 98% HR. Then he thinks: "easy meat", so he passes you, then he's the one who sits on 42kmh, then you suck his wheel.....works every time.

I passed him on the last substantial hill thinking I could put some distance into him - he didn't seem like the best climber and I find most guys seem to slow down a few kph on the 'hills' of Beach Rd. Well, the bastard managed to hang on, and when I upped the ante to 42kph on the run down to Mordy, he just hung onto my wheel.
Doh!
Yesterday was also my first day on a Flite Ti Genuine Gel. It was okay for the first 20k's, but I appear to have a sore butt this morning ( not sure where the Gel comes in, that's one hard saddle ). Seems as though the quest for the comfy saddle continues. What do you guys use? Any of you close to 6ft 4ins, 90kg?

g'day,
Hills?...on beach Rd?....gimme a break!......as far as the saddle goes, I'm a larger guy & am rapt in my Fizik Arione.....looks weird at first glance because of the length, but I'm a fan. Quite a few of my mates have also got 'into' them & are happy. The length provides a whole heap more 'positions' on the bike...so you can move around depending on whether your climbing, cruising or eating bar tape...check them out...not cheap though

G'day,
I see Wil walker has signed with Rabobank for next year......another Aussie to a Division 1 team!......Go Wil.....I can remember the little prick kicking my arse when he was only 14, (not that that is too difficult!)......must be in the genes...his little brother Nick is only 14 now & blitzed 'D' grade at the 'Tour of the Grampians' earlier this year....they wouldn't let him ride 'B' grade cos they had a 110km stage & juniors aren't allowed to race that far....but he probably woulda won that as well!

Jeez, it's a k'nightmare! You know the scenario: we're flying along, taking up the whole inside lane while a car is queezing past on the right. Then, suddenly everyone yells, "car up, car up", obviously beacuse of a parked car, so we all fly into the right lane while this car is trying to get by...........YIKES.
Being old and sensible, all I can think is: "hmmm, imagine if a car door opened right now."

Why is it..............
if you shoot off the front of these bunches for a few minutes -- suppose you then get caught by half a dozen guys, why do they all take my fukn nose off as they swerve past me? A while ago, one little PR1CK nearly put me into the gutter.

But when Tuesday racing starts, the numbers obviously drop a bit, but then we get more "weekenders" because it's warmer. There's still a few strong riders over the racing season -- mainly (so I've been told) guys that can't get to Sandown by the 6:30 race time. I think that's is why the ride began in the first place.

A common scene I see on the roads is when a car is behind you and approaching their turn they speed up and cut right in front of you. This one dickhead took this corner in his 4x4 his wheels crashed into the curb and he was almost on two wheels he took the corner so fast. And another dickhead forced me to basically come to a stop to avoid crashing into him when he turned in front of me.

I'll probably make some enemies over this, but sometimes when I see this about to occur, I'll start doing the bushman's hanky of the guy's bonnet -- fuk 'em, some need to be taught

LOL....the best & worst thing I've seen, behaviour wise, was last year. Racing out the back of Romsey, middle of nowhere...a bunch of about 50...single lane road...this car comes up behind the bunch...everybodies yelling 'car back' & trying to make some room, (pretty hard with 50 riders on a single lane road)...well this character just leans on the horn & refuses to get off it...revving the engine..going absolutely beserk...(we're still trying to get over).....he's almost touching the back of the bunch, (which mean't we couldn't stop for fear of being run over).....this blokes got his head out the window...absolutely screaming abuse at us.....when one guy turns around & turfs the bidon at the car......musta hit exactly in the right spot...cos the windscreen explodes!......car stops.....he musta had a mobile cos a copper was waiting for us at the end........guy had to pay for the windscreen & lost his csv licence for 12 mths.....but fark it was funny....car driver got what he deserved for mine

John Kennedy reckons him and Pate once wrapped a seltbelt around a guy's neck.
