Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's funny, isn't it? We all go through all this BS about which bike will be best for us, then, 80% of the time we end up going for the bike that is so rediculously discounted, it would be crazy not to get it

I nearly bought a 2003 LeMond Zurich frame just for this reason ($900!!!). I gave it the "one last measure" treatment, with the cash bulging in my pocket, and the head-tube was about 7mm too small.

Ah seppos are a funny bunch, especially the ones of the fairer persuasion. My sisters got a seppo girlfirend, and goes over there quite a bit. It seems that lady seppos either think aussie blokes are the definition of "man" and good enough to eat, or sexist, lowlife scum. Nothing in between. Perhaps we have some of the latter here.

Thanks heaps for that. My range is from about $2.5k, to $3.5k. So nothing that's going to impress to many.

...ok so is it me?.....I seem to be having one of those days!...first I get up the mod's nose......then into an argument with some blokes who thinks TCR's are actually good representations of what a carbon bike should be!

Why don't you give them the "McDonalds of the bike industry" cliche?

You'll never win because there's about 512,000,000 TCR owners out there.
Jeez, a third of them are in Melbourne.

hey i like that...I'm gunna use that one & pretend it's mine ......the sad part for all these hyundai owners is that they are actually good value for money....but you only get what you pay for!...its only when you ride a 'carbon' by one of the 'reputable' carbon manufacturers, 'Look', Colnago, Bianci etc etc.....that you realize how it 'should' be done. The 1st carbon bike I rode was a TCR....& it nearly put me off carbon for life...I nearly steered clear of riding any of them, until a mate suggested (with a smirk, as I recall), that i give the material another chance.......

Hey Ed, you seem like a smart bloke who seems to have some interest in exercise physiology.

I've had this weird muscle imbalance (I think) problem for a couple of years where both my mediali seem too weak for the rest of my legs, and they become over-worked and strained. I can get through a hard ride if I'm fresh, but often they will be sore for a few days, as if I've done really hard weights on 'em.
Drivin' me "knuts"

Hmmm..definitely one for a PROFESSIONAL sports therapist, mate. I wouldn't know where to start.....could be caused by any number of things. Do you use a full float pedal like Time or Speedplay?

I'm condifent it's not position because I'd had the same pozzy for about 18 years. It happened after I increased my miles and intensity, whilst gaining 10 kilos, some of which was a bit of lateralis hypertrophy. I've also been very slack on abs for the last four or five years, so I reckon it's pelvic tilt, femur rotation, too high Q-factor, and all that kind of crap

Hell ya....You need the controversy. If there wasn't controversy and we agreed on every topic this forum would be so boring.

People need to have this face sometimes-----> or else we wouldn't have anything to talk about it.

That why I think you all should swap out your gear ratios and push 60-9's around at 30 rpm

Which ever Aussie was 55-9 all day....You were making me fall out of my chair sometimes.

Where are the rep points? I think it's a little dumb.
