Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Got it sorted now, thanks anyway Expat (ex-pat from which state?). I just put on my top mount levers instead, this is on my commuter bike. I did want something a little cheaper in case anything happened to them. The ones I have are really nice CNC'ed cross levers from Sniper Racing in PA, but I got them free so I can't complain.

From www.cyclingnews.com:

"A field of 100 elite cyclists has been confirmed for the Melbourne Cup on Wheels track cycling meet at Vodafone Arena this Saturday, December 4. International cycling stars of the likes of Shane Kelly, Sean Eadie, Ben Kersten and Kerrie Meares (all Australian Team members) will be competing against the best from New Zealand, New Caledonia, Fiji and Tahiti as well as a host of other Australian Cycling stars. "

"Handicaps for the main event, the Melbourne Cup on Wheels, have been released with four riders (Shane Kelly, Todd Wilksch, Darren Young and young Stephen Rossendell) all riding from the scratch mark. Ben Kersten, being in excellent form after dominating an event in Sydney last weekend, will also be competing. "

"The event, which commences at 6.30 pm, has also attracted a record field of 30 female entries which will contest a packed program of handicap, scratch and Keirin races. Amongst others, Joanne Kiesanowski (NZ - Athens Olympian), Liz Williams (NZ - Oceania Champion) and Belinda Goss (AUS - Australian Representative) will be competing. "

"The Melbourne Cup on Wheels program will also include a number of Oceania Championship events, including the Men’s Keirin, the Women’s Sprint, the Junior Men’s Scratch race and the Women’s Individual Pursuit. "

"Tickets are on sale at Ticketek (www.ticketek.com) from $20, and season tickets are available prior to the Melbourne Cup on Wheels for the 3 race International Track Series being held at Vodafone Arena. "

Hey Rowan, sorry to revisit the sore subject, but are you looking to get rid of that moulding, festering tandem?

Geez guys, we gotta rev this up a bit. We don't want hitchy to think he's the life and soul of the party, and when's he's not around, it all falls apart. I even suggested BurlySurly become an onorary/ornery Aussie.

And Expat, let me explain it this way: You -- expensive Ti and lovely wife. Me -- cheap and nasty ex-hire steel ladyback that flexes and sways with anyone over 140lbs on the back. No, it will stay in the garage as a reminder of my eternal failure with women.

Man it's so exciting in here today. It's so bloody exciting I feel like grabbing the dremmil, cutting a nice circle in the top of my head, and drinking my brain through a blue curly straw.

Hey, I've jsut started a *****fight over in Advocacy and Safety (should be the Whingeing and Whining) forum. About some BMX kid gettin'g knocked off his bike by a car. Happens here, who gives a *****. Happens in seppoland, and everyone's on the bandwagon.

Yeah, actually I might call it quits here at work, and go do some carbo-loading (ie, drink beer) ready for Sunday's 200km Ash Dash.
