Had second thoughts when I thunk it might have inflamed things a bit (or scared him off), and his biggest fan on these fora would have come down on me, hard.

septic tank is rhyming slang for yank
Yank, from an Aussie context, is anyone from USA
The term "Yank" by itself usually offends citizens from 49 of the 50 states, but that only seems to further entrench its use within the Australian lingo.
So there you have it, or not. As the case may be.

Hey Expat, I'm gonna head up north early on Sunday. I'll prolly ride up to Newey via the Pathetic Hwy, grab some fuel at Nobbys or Darby St, then head south for an hour towards Toronto and catch a train home from there. Any interest in joining up for some of it?
Its a 4 hour base ride, so I'll just be ambling along at about 30kph (a bit slower where 'scenery' is in full bloom).

Would that make it a friendly insult? When it comes to picking on my adopted countrymen, I got nothin. Plenty of Kiwi jokes tho...

there was aseppo here awhile ago, (can't remember which one), was living in Perth, he wore 'Seppo' as a badge of honour...it was all over his personal web page....he'd refer to himself as a 'seppo' in paradise. i think he delighted in the fact that none of his mates back in the states knew WTF he was on about!

Sunday is my sleep in day, so I don't take off until 5:30. That would put me at Swansea/Belmont by ~7:30 I would reckon (or the Toronto or Cardiff exit if I come up the fwy). I'll ride anywhere around Newey till 9:30 then jump on a train back home so I can play with the kids.
Where do you guys live?

We're in Lambton. I went to post some parts out this morning, and my sandals melted to the road. Came home and laid down between the cat and dog on the floor in the lounge room, with the A/C on high.

It's a blowy 35 here today. Same as the last couple of days which didn't stop me riding. Have to go and teach a mate how to hit a golf ball first, at the driving range for the inter-departmental golf tournament next Monday. All this sun is getting me so brown I'll turn into a black fella soon.

It's dark out there, too.
Just pretend you're away on your own at Het-Volk surrounded by press motorbikes....

Now here in Hobart, it's a lovely 20 deg C and I'm looking out my window at a school swimming carnival involving 700 (yeah, 700) students of a girls' high school. Hard to know which way to look. Scary, though... the pool will be getting complaints about noise pollution before long.

Reminds me of when they hold a swimming carnival at my gym.....normal 1 hour workout somehow drags on for 90 minutes.
Can't understand it.

It's a bit like touring the Cadbury's chockie factory just up the road. Looks good at first, but after the first 10 minutes, the sickly smell gets to you. Just substitute loud sceaming for sickly smell, plus a teacher on the PA that would be better suited at Kmart or Woolies behind the shop microphone.

That sounds vaguely apologetic. You're not taking me too seriously, are you? Did you forget which thread this is?
