Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

There's no doubt he's absolute superstar, but I just reckon he's more of a 4 or 5 than a number 3.

I have no doubt he's a class above the rest. In a World Cup qualifier against the Windies in 1999, the ball was seaming all over the place on a damp pitch, and Ponting and Mark Waugh were the only two who could hit the ball.

Rowan can be a nasty bugger to those seppo's at times. Glad he's got nothing against Bathurstians.

Or I might get paranoid that there's a conspiracy against me.

By the way, if you (and any peeping toms) want see some *real* fun instead of this snivelling excuse for controversy, go here:

Here's part on an email I just got from "The Hitcher":

"........some peckerhead was behind the 'hell ride' last week & ranting & raving, finally got past them & went to the front of the bunch & slammed on his brakes. Apparently about 100 guys came off! (dunno if that's an exaggeration or not!)....carnage apparently."

Unbeleeeeeevable. Ed would've walloped him with one of his big hams

I don't know much about the Hell Ride. But by the name of it I guess it'd be pretty bloody insane.

150-plus inexperienced tools on expensive bikes who like to race each other + public roads and people trying to drive on them = Hell Ride.

At least it's very early on a Saturday morning.

Try the Tuesday night ride at 7:00pm (on Beach Rd, for you "hot-landers") on a hot summer's day, with a gazillion cars, little kids, and windsurfers all ove the road

It has it's fair share of hellishness

I often pull out coz it's too dangerous
