......missed this post the other day...musta be'ed working! .....LOL......yep, nearly invested the $$ in a C50.....liked the ride lots, but couldn't get the deal I wanted, ultimately. I think the bloke at TFM thought I mighta been just a 'tyre kicker' & couldn't be bothered spending any time with me....little did he know that the 'cashola' was burning a hole in my pocket!.....Always loved the 486 lines, even more so when I rode it...(had to wait ages to test ride one in my size)...might not have ever got that far if the TFM dude hadn't of dismissed me as a ******!.......

...actually i don't envy me either.......max HR 200mts from the start, (under control!) is not my idea of fun!...It'll be bedlam until the pro's/A graders get away from us wannabe's after about 50 km. The plan then is to try & settle with a group of my own ability for the remaining 250km to 'warnie'....assuming that I haven't wrecked myself trying to 'hold on' earlier.....'controlled shelling' is what i need........(or a taxi)

pray for an easterly.....very rare, but can happen at this time of year. Helped Deano set his 5:12 record.....they were tapping through in the 12 at 60kmh for 200km.

Replace hitchy with wattsy and henk with hitchy and you have a summary of our Hell rides together...LOL


FARK!! are these men super human or what!!

....yeah, would be just as happy with a headwind as well....(slows the pro's down).....a strong cross wind will be disasterous for this little balck duck.....at this level I'm not strong enough to force myself into a good spot in an echelon...cross wind is my biggest fear.....apart from actually dieing & getting lost....the latter is a definate possibility!...after the 'hell ride' tomorrow, we're heading down to Geelong to try & fathom how it gets out to the Midland Hwy. (got a course mokka off CSV).....with rolling closures & rolling marshalling...there won't be anyone left on half these corners by the time I get there!

I'm gunna tag onto the Hell Ride tomorrow to Oliver's...cough cough, assuming I can. I'll see you there.

Memories flooding back....the bit through Geelong is a bit dodgy. The cops hit the sirens and block off the side roads, as well as riding their motorbikes around your bunch like a presidential motorcade. So if you're in an echelon, they physically push you back over to the left. Good feeling though....plenty of Gellong folk come out to see the race go past.

After that, it's plain sailing.

Nup. My racing days are over.....I'm firmly in the "When I raced..." and "VFL Park used to be the hardest crits ever..." camp now. With hindsight, my racing career has never looked better!!!

I'm gonna clean the dust off the Scapin over the weekend and post some pics for youz.....might even get out and ride it, who knows???

Ha!! Why was this? I reckon Dunlop Rd. was about half the pace of VFL Park. I thought it was just the numbers.

I'll ponder it.....gimme a cupla weeks. The garden is in desperate need of attention (all this rain..) so the missus would freak if I rolled anything out of the garage except the lawnmower....lol.

Wot , Che 'big ed' doesn't have a gardener?......must admit mine could do with a touch up too........so when you're finished yours, pop around!, help yourself to a 'crownie' when you're finished, (don't mention it, mate, I do the same for all the hired help).........I can't do it, cos i'll be ridin'!

piss orf!!!! I'll be parking my elephant seal-like carcass on the deckchair post-mow for some sun and my own frothies, tyvm!!

VFL always seemed to be harder for me, especially after they had to change the course to taek in that little gully over near Police Rd. always a roaring northerly too....would cut the bunch to ribbons after 15 minutes.

Dunlop was just flat and fast....perfect for a rouleur (no laughing please...) like me! Not so great on the legs if you'd raced at Northcote the night before, ouch!

Anyone know a good sports medicine quack in Melbourne that specialises in cycling? I've got a knee that's playing up and I'm suspecting an overuse injury, but I'd like my worst fears confirmed before I decided to stay off the bike for 6 weeks!
