Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If your pedals don't look like they've spent 6 months in Baghdad, you're not riding hard enough....

To be sure there'll be pics to come when i get it. Poor bloody thing will look a bit ordinary with crappy second hand pedals and R540 wheels. But we've all got to start somehwere right? Should be the perfect frame for my riding, so I couldn't ask for much more.

Yeah, but it looks **** there. I've seen a couple of pics in reviews that looked better. Being a government employee, I only work when I want, so I might see if I can find one again this arvo.

Yeah but man. That first pic of her in her virgin, unsullied beauty. Then to see those two horid things hanging off it. Would be like getting Claire Forlani nakid and alone only to find out she's got wrinkly saggy tits.

I think I'm going to ring them and get a price on Shimano 7800's. Couldn't do it at the shop because they **** me to tears to actually talk to face to face. Phone's a better option.

BTW, they were telling me the new Shimano's aren't really compatible with looks. The cleat is still different (they showed me).

Rang the Orange dealer as a courtesy call. He sounded so disappointed. I feel like ****.

Man, thats so true. Haven't even recieved the thing yet and there's things I HAVE to upgrade. Bike's'll end up as bad for me as pokies for others. I'll bloody spend my whole deposit on one.

Still haven't told the missus I've actually done it yet either. I'm scared.

I think I get the award for the biggest financial d1ckhead here. I got one of
those, "extend your VISA limit an extra $2000, no questions asked" things, took it, and
blew most of it on me bikes

.
I really like the headtube lengths. The 54cm has a 165mm, and the 56 has a 190mm.

My 58cm Cervelo (centre to top) has a 160mm headtube, and the 54 has a 140mm, and they're only 1 inch!!!!

Thanks wattsy. Maybe you can send 531 to get my bike when I'm dead, cause I doubt a bucket of blood will be enough to calm her down.

Ah I don't know where I got that info from about the pedals. People telling noobs fibs should be strung up by the nuts.

Yeah I was looking at those headtubes 531Aussie. I was wondering why they were so long. Just to get me more upright or something? Come in handy anyway, as my bloody long legs will be trying to put me head down bum up anyway.

Just ordered a set of Shimano 7800's for $250. Yay for first upgrade!
He said that was cost. That true?

I think I sh1ted on about it in that email I sent you a while ago.

Better to be longer than shorter, I reckon. Means you can obviously get higher without
spacing/flexing issues with the steerer. Mind you, because you're getting a complete bike, the steerer
will no doubt have been already cut to whatever length.

Ah that's right. That email had so much technothingamebabble at the time I didn't understand half the things you were telling me. I'll have to dig it out and see if I can do better now.

At least I know there no such thing as a universal cleat now.

we're still talking pedals I take it...you're confusing me. 7800 is the numeric prefix that Shimano have given to every part in the DA10 groupset...(Ie a DA chain will be, something, something-7800). So if you've got 7800 pedals, start referring to them as DA will ya, so i know what you're on about....Ok...very smick pedal set...can get them online for $250 odd, so that couls well be around his cost...its alot less than retail anyway, so you done ok there!.....the cleets have little rubber stoppers on them...a lot easier to walk in without falling on your aarse than the older style shimano & the looks...good choice

Aww okay. I guess I can't be lazy now I'm a roadbike owner.

I bought some Shimano SPD-SL-PD-7800 pedals. Is that better?

And yeah, I'll be falling on my arse whether it's got rubber or not.
