Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

There is nothing about it that is scientific. You just react to their needs.

And train them like you would a dog as they get older.

Yep, looks that way.
And there was a story floating around in the wee hours that the two empty seats were people who missed the flight!

Another way of looking at it is it was a Fiat built by actual Communist Yugoslavians, rather than communism-curious Italians.

To be scientific, you need a really large N because of variation from individual to individual within the population. The books tell you about the average, they don't generally discuss the totality of the distribution.

It’s going to turn to rain later, but the Poconos could get a lot of snow. Went out early and picked up a fish to bake.

We had a good ride. Temp was about 23-26 the whole ride and cloudy. We kept it short to best the storm.

We finished just as the first flakes started to fall.

So it's gonna turn to rain, then that's all gonna freeze up tonight? gnarly!

Looks like 6-8" is coming for us, not supposed to start snowing 'til 2 or 3 am though.

Ya, its interesting how none of the developmental "leaps", "growth spurts", "cluster feeding", "regressions" etc are really clinically communicated. Instead, they are theories (often conflicting) put out by childcare experts. There may be some truth to them on average, but the error bar is big from kid to kid so that it's essentially meaningless. Plus some of them overlap. If you put all the theories together - there's basically always a reason why your infant might be in a rough spot.

At discharge, the pediatrician did tell us to expect some cluster feeding (or other specific behavior) within the first couple days and weeks, but nothing past that. It's all a wild card now.

I follow this online forum "What to expect" and lots of mothers are posting their about their child going through "leap 5" or "leap 6" (or something) at this point, terminology from the very popular "Wonder Weeks" book that is a hit with other millenial parents. Sometimes I wonder if people are putting the cart before the horse when interpreting their child's difficulties through the system in the book. There's a name for the fallacy that I am not remembering.

Also, the forums make me feel like an awesome partner because many of the mom's post threads complaining about how unhelpful their husbands are and how much they suck. So that's a bonus to reading the threads . The posts are essentially 100% from mothers, with basically no male participation... A part of me really wants to make a troll account and make clickbait thread titles like "things your wife does that pisses you off"....

RE: pool. Haven't been the bar going type for a few years, but when I do find myself at one, I enjoy playing pool. I'm not great, but usually mediocre at worst, and sometimes have good days. I can make some tough cross table shots or other angled shots when I'm shooting well, but I can't really control where the cue goes super well. I think that's what differentiates an adequate pool player from a really good one.
