The seller calls that Fuji Roubaix color "magenta". In that 1987 catalog Fuji calls it "Wine Mist", which sounds like "Fog of Alcohol" to me.

I need to stop reading this forum because I keep wanting to spend money I don't have. I don't even ride the bike I own enough. I just like tinkering with bikes and dreaming up frankenbike builds.

Thank you guys for separating the wheat from the chaff of Craigslist!

This keeps popping up on some keyword triggers I have setup for the ~3hr radius around me. It's been running for at least 2 months now with no buys. I'm shocked.

Franklin Custom tandem build for 6' and 5'6" person - $475

https://syracuse.craigslist.org/bik/6115393154.html

"For sale is a 1985 custom Franklin tandem bicycle in good shape. Everything works on this tandem it has front and rear rim brakes along with a rear drum brake for extra stopping power. It's 18 speed (3 front 6 back) with a shimano drive train."

I don't know much about Franklin, I other than that they are a well-regarded custom builder from the Columbus, OH area. Seller is entertaining offers. This has been posted for a couple months.

The seller just dropped it to $160. It's about an hour and a half from me.

Vintage Zanella Italian Steel Road Bike - 59cm - $300 (Fan)

"Up for sale, a gorgeous, vintage Zanella Italian Road Bike. Frame size is 59cm. This is a beautifully made lugged steel frame and is surprisingly light weight. The bike shifts and rides smoothly. Tires recently replaced with super durable Gatorskin Hardshell Ultra 700x23. Would also make a great contender for a single speed or fixed gear bike as well if that's your thing. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks."

$5

Vintage men's Gitane Grand Sport Deluxe road frame with some parts. Frame needs cleaning. Frame is 20".
Originally this was a 10 speed with 27" wheels. This is all thats left of it. This would be good for a single speed or a fixed gear.
$5.00 takes it.
Please call or text for faster response.
Thanks for looking.

1986 Trek tri series complete - $250 (Woburn)

© craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap
(google map)

Really nice original 1986 Trek 500 tri series. Mallard hubs shimano 600 group SR cranks. No dents, the wheels are straight. I'm pretty sure this is all original except the tires bar tape and cables. Really nice red white fade color. This is one of the handmade in Wisconsin treks. These higher end 80s road bikes are getting harder to find.

Maybe they think Univega is Italian because it's equipped with Campy?

I suspect it's an "Ital Sport" model. Enlarging the (non) drive side photo doesn't quite afford the resolution to be certain, but it appears to read "ital sport". he Triomphe downtube lever would be consistent. So it would be a triple butted, Miyata framed, Campy equipped red bike at a reasonable price point?

(Photos are simply awful, and I find the hand in the pictures amusing. So there's that?)

I'd have gotten it as N+1, if I thought I could hide it from my wife, if it were in DC, and if it was bigger.

Too small for me too.

(Though red bikes are fast, and clean red bikes the fastest, they are difficult to hide from one's significant other...)

(Note: edited my post as it would have been a Miyata tubed frame, and probably not splined, if my guess on the year based on dim photos is close.)

REQUEST!

Aloha guys (and gals) - I'm wondering if I can tap those who frequent this thread to help me find a complete vintage lightweight roadie for a friend in the LA area.

Location: Ventura or Los Angeles County

Size req: ~52cm to ~56cm (rider is 5'8)

Price: $150 or less

Era: Mid 80's or newer (does not have to be C&V)

Locating this for a friend who is new to cycling, but mechanically inclined.

Any leads appreciated!

Franklins are indeed nice bikes - they are Jack's custom line, with Bradley being his "stock" frames. He's one-man operation, still building, painting and servicing frames near Newark, Ohio.
I'd love to have one of his frames, if nothing else but the local connection.

1992 Schwinn Crisscross. In 1992 the Crosspoint, Crosscut, and Crisscross all had the exact same frame according to the catalog specs just different groupset. Looks almost showroom fresh. Wish this was closer to me.

Gitane Tandem $250

Custom faded paint job, courtesy of a few decades of dear old sol.

Q: What kind of bike is it?
A: What kind of bike isn't it? Frame appears to be Gitane pre-1988 +-10 years. Fork is made of metal. Seats match, aren't grodie, appear to be from a mountain bike. Suntour friction shifters. Wheels are round. Brakes are there, too. The rear wheel has a drum brake but it isn't hooked up to anything yet.

Q: Does it work?
A: Basically. The components are all fine, but the previous owners and my attempts to redo some of the cables didn't work perfectly. There's too much friction and the shifting is sluggish. It may need a pro or a competent person to make some adjustments. The front seat post is a bit skinny and needed a few shims to fit perfectly.

Q: What size is it?
A: The front seat can accommodate someone 5' 7 - 6' 2. The rear seat can handle someone 5' 8 or, with a big-ass seat post, a flexible tall person.

Q: Why are you selling it?
A: My wife's ACL has healed and she can haul her own ass around town, thank you very much.

Q: Why should I buy it?
A: Your husband can haul your ass around town while you relax and enjoy the sights!

Tires will last through the summer and, with a little work, it will be an extremely functional bike. It is currently a very fun, mostly-functional bike!

Price is completely inflexible, figuratively carved in stone. Cash only. No trades.
