Oh, believe me, I'm plotting how I can mix in purple, green, orange, and black without having any of them look good together.

Duuude.
Green may not be one of the Official Build Colors, but I just sold these 4 NOS Tuf-Necksprockets chainrings on eBay for a remarkable pile of cash on behalf of the local co-op.
Which regrettably means the orange one won't be available for this build.
Maybe, just maybe, I'll steal the crank & chainrings off the Great Pumpkin for this build. Or maybe not, as keeping the Great Pumpkin intact during its Very Special Month might be a priority.

Huh. It never occurred to me that this might be worth anything. I have a gold one too. I got them both for a few bucks at a Western Bikeworks warehouse sale about 10 years ago.

I saw these Tuf-Necks at a co-op in LA last month and told the staff of their potential value on eBay. They said "buy them at our prices and sell them online to raise money for your co-op." Which I then did.
A year or so ago, we got a modest womens bicycle donated - but it had an original Diamond Back pillow block BMX stem on it. We swapped the stem and made a fast $50 and still had the bike itself to sell or work trade. And the buyer was local, which resulted in additional contacts for moving items of interest.

I was thinking I could pair this with a black crank and make it really ugly, but I just looked it up and it turns out that's what Race Face had in mind too.
Race Face Decadence by John watson, on Flickr
It just goes to show, you can't out-ugly modern component makers.

I have a day off from coaching so I got to work on the Zombie bike build. I have procured the desired grips for the bars, and have not enough room for the turkey levers, so back to the drawing board. I have a Raleigh that is becoming a cadaver, ever so slowly. The bar tape went to a Trek build and now the bars and stem are being sacrificed for the Zombie Ochsner.
The bars and stem will fit the Ochsner, and are my riding size. Not quite from different countries though as the bars and SR stem are Japanese. The record levers and hoods shall be repurposed to work on either the Ciocc or maybe the Faggin.
At this rate the Raleigh will be down to a frame and fork soon and will fade out of the shop to a new home.
So I wanted to give a little "throwback" into the mix as well, so it was off to the hobby shop looking for some help. I struck out on finding Halloween streamers for my bars. Bummer! But the kind young ladies at the registers helped a bit and directed me to a section of the store I don't usually meander into. And I think I have success for my quest...
Ribbons in Jdawgs four primary colors to make my own handlebar streamers. Now to just get some bar plugs and a drill to make the streamers fit.
BwaaaHaaaaa! Smiles, MH

Sometimes when you're stripping a bike, you get the sense that the frame is pleading "what did I ever do to deserve this?"
And you have to look it straight in the head tube and say, "Nothing personal. It's business."

The Canvas for the art
The Toilet Bowlnago has been stripped of its expensive clothing (Super Record seatpost, front brake without acorn nut, Cinelli bars and stem, and Super Record headset (lots of loose balls as a morning surprise.
Paint has been purchased to cover the sins of its life as a real bike.
Fixie wheels and crank sitting to the side. Nice Bontrager saddle though that might find its way to the Bianchi. Has the nice hole for my nether regions.
Weirdly the fork doesn’t say Colnago on the crown. Which makes it earlier or later? Good thing since it will ease into its disguise as Super Toilet Bowlnago!
For the record, Club cutout in BB shell.
Ooooo
I think there was supposed to be a third brake cable guide here. Excellent, 8 grams saved.
No Colnago near the club on the crown. Headset revealed its loose balls to wake me up.
Cheap bottom bracket I think. Might stay.
Adjusters without springy thingy.

Got the edge crank set on the Jeunet working good surprising silky smooth with nice shifting just barely clears the frame on the small ring and looks like it just shouldn't work good.
Torching the poor old VGT had to run a bit of sllack for the extreme eliptical triple rings.
Some really tight clearances to get a nice chain line and shifting.

The next part for the Smella arrived in the mail today, and I got a reaction from my wife that I haven't seen since she misread the email on my order for Eroica bike shorts.
You can imagine what she thought when I took it with me into the garage and grabbed some sandpaper. A couple of sprays of Pro Gold for lubrication really helped with this, and before long I was able to get it in. You know, 22.2 quill and 22.0 steerer, the oil helped with the sanding. What did you think I meant?
And, no, I didn't trash my garage to fit the theme of this thread. It always looks like that.

Somewhere in a 1/3-scale parallel universe, a supermarket is missing one of its shopping carts.

Yes. One of my daughter's friends gave that to her for my grandson. I have a feeling that some local market is also missing one of its kid shopping carts.

The shopping cart is NOT eligible for the challenge for the record...unless it can be integrated into a bicycle design...maybe train wheel mech.

I mean, I would have messed up my garage just for a photo to put in this thread, but its nice when the work is already done for you. I'll see your five and raise you ten...

Okay! It's late, and what better time to perform freakish, Frankenstein monster mayhem than in the middle of the night when no one's looking?
Let the desecration commence!
pastorbobnlnh , If you recall...
Well now...
Let's see what we got banging' around the shop...
Hmm, how's for this here now? Looks a bit Paramount-esqe, isn't that right?
Only one problem...
It graces the top of the Huffente, and there is no way I'm letting nasty Paramount juices contaminate my beautiful Huffy.
But then...wait a sec!
Hello what have we here??
Why steal a Brooks from a Huffy when you can steal this?!
For the Crapamount? PERFECT.
Now, I really, really wanted to just use a heavy, clunky steel post and be done with it, but apparently manufacturers didn't think ahead to fine folks (like me) wanting to use gigantically heavy kludgy steel posts on bikes like the Paramount, so most are going to be too small, at least the one I have. I could buy one I'm sure, but then that is kinda moving backward from the entire project. The only way that would make sense is if I could fine a completely solid 27.2 steel rod (better yet, solid lead) and weigh the bike down even further, but since 'minimal energy expenditure' and 'crapola parts' are sort of on equal footing, we are moving forward. What's that famous mtb phrase? Run what ya brung!
Yes, a boat anchor, but a ‘little bit too clean and presentable’ boat anchor
To be continued...

I actually might be able to make that work with a slight modification to a handlebar bag mount I once concocted, which by itself might have been worthy of this challenge.
I hope I still have all those parts.

The next best thing is this goofy Avocet, and while I'm lamenting the fact that it is alloy (and therefore, somewhat resembling a higher-quality piece of kit) I'm quite relieved that it is still a piece of garbage, with super annoying adjusting bolts and galled up threads. Should fit in nicely and still give me some points for having a different maker on the bike (seriously, an Avocet seatpost ??)
And whaddya know, fits great!
This saddle is not just a 'bum hatchet', but a full on bum chainsaw. As much as I LOVE tetanus, we also have the femoral artery to consider. Therefore, it's gonna get a 'safety wrap' of HVAC seal foam, topped with a ton of obvious GRAY duct tape, because we wouldn't want anyone seeing the bike from a distance and confusing black duct tape with a legitimate seat covering.
I might even patent this awesome anatomical foam cutout shape.
Looks like I'm going to need a LOT more duct tape before I'm fully satisfied, but check it out. Sort of has a sweet, aero look to it, don'tcha think? Right at home on the Crapamount.
