I got real drunk saturday night at a beer tasting and when I was riding home I had an unfortunate incident with a set of train tracks. The worst part was that after I got up from the first crash I had 3 0mph crashes trying to get back on my bike.

Last week outside the bar my friend asked if she could try my fix (but decided the seat was too high to reach the pedals). I traded for her Huffy Regatta or something to ride home on. This 100 pound monster was great - try riding one of these after getting off a track bike. You can ride right up a curb and not even feel a thing. Amazing!

Anyway I was so busy drunkenly admiring the unfamiliar ride I mistakenly thought I had a green and rode straight into traffic. Amidst all the cars and honking I realized what happened and couldn't believe I didn't get hit.

I am glad you found that. A personal joy, because I am from Greensboro.

From: portland. either one.
Two friends of mine ride our bikes to a boat launch/pier at the end of the city, overlooking the ocean. We drank roughly 15oz. of bourbon each, jump in the ocean, climb some trees, and hop on our bikes. 2 a.m., portland maine. DEAD EMPTY STREETS. One friend and i start racing down a boardwalk, leaving the other in the dust. We reach the street that runs along the wharf, my cell phone rings, causing distraction and making my friend swerve into me at full speed. We both crashed. i don't know what he was planning to do...take it out of my pocket for me?
on the phone was friend #2, (left in the dust.) he had crashed, knocking out a front tooth and shredding up his hands. blood, broken bike pieces everywhere.
on the race back to find him friend #1 ran headlong into a lamppost. destroyed his bike and bent up his shoulder bits.
i was the only one unscathed, and the only one on a fixed. moral?

Bikes: late 80's Pinarello Track, 1988 Proteus Yamaguchi road, 1970's Nishiki fg conversion (stolen and returned!)

One fine night in Baltimore, I went out to the bar. When I am out in the city, I sometimes lock the front wheel to the rear wheel and the frame with my U-lock. On this night, I must have lost my wrench in the bar. I realized this, but being fairly inebriated, determined that finger tight on the front bolts would have to be good enough. A lesson was to be learned.

I made it almost all two miles to a friend’s house. On his block, I hit the smallest of small cracks in the road. My front wheel hoped out and I ate sh*t. I ended up cutting my lip open, and breaking my nose. I hobbled up the street with my bike. My friends came running to meet me in the driveway. They go "Noah! The neighbors just called and said someone was bleeding on our front steps." Apparently I said something like "don't worry guys, it’s bloodier then it looks." We were supposed to go to a party which i profusely claimed we should still go to still not aware of my condition. Instead, they said "shut up, we are going to the hospital" where the doctors and nurses proceeded to make fun of me. It was cool though cause then they put me on morphine.

I never cleaned the blood off the bike. About two months later, my bike was stolen in DC. While filling out the police report, the officer asked if I knew the serial number to which I responded “no, but my blood is all over it.” So if any of you people see an old Nishiki fixed with blood on it, its mine.

My story is not quite as spectacular as the previosu ones: no wild dogs, cars, or other people involved--just me, beer, my bike, and a dark campsite by a lake.

Was camping with my family right after i turned 21. At 11:00 all the park lights go out. It was also extremely cloudy, so no stars or moonlight. At 2:00 i really need to pee. Instead of walking through the campground, i took my old mtb. I make it to the privy in one piece, after nearly running into a parked car. I get on my bike as i am leaving and proceed back to the campsite. The campground is pretty big with lots of sites and lots of winding roads. I take a wrong turn and before i know it i'm waist deep in the water trying frantically to find my bike and figure out wtf happened.

The next morning, the dude that lives by the boathouse says he saw me tearing as$ down the boat launch and that I hit the water at full speed and went flying over my handlebars.

just before i read your post i was thinking the same thing.
one night i locked my bike to the fance a front of a bar i was drinking in. couple hours later, when unlocking it, i found out someone puked all over my chain, so instead of locking it around my waist i hung the chain on top tube. the chain got caught between fork and spokes fliping me over (i didnt let go of the handelbars i think) and i landed on top of my head.i almost broke my neck and couldnt move for 2 weeks.
i got another story about smoking weed and biking.

I've never had a problem riding drunk. First time i did it, i had to climb up a huge hill to get home. No problems.

the other day, I woke up still incredibly drunk and i had to go to class. Hopped on the bike rode across town to get to class. Longest hour of my life (I don't know how much good taking notes drunk does but i managed to do it). Went back home and slept for another 6 hours.

See, I was sober and working when I posted that. Let me get home and get sloshed, then I'll come up with some good ones. Or I guess I could just leave work, go get sloshed, then do something on the way home...

Decisions, decisions...

I was working a book signing (Bruce Campbell) - me and my friend/coworked started chatting up a guy in line who is a bartender across the street, so we hook up afterwards and partake in many a free pitcher.

Aside from riding like 6 miles out of my way, I drifted into the curb and into the sidewalk - face first, *twice*. When I stumbled into the house an hour or so before sunrise my face was bleeding.my glasses were broken (I lost a chunk of skin on the bridge of my nose) and I made a bunch of noise, woke up the dogs, my wife. She wasn't happy, or surprised. My sister, getting married in two days and at whose wedding I was a groomsmen (and, subsequently, due to appear in just about every picture) was QUITE PISSED and barely talked to me at the reception.

The photographers photoshopped it all out, though. My favorite part was going into work and telling my boss that the event was a complete failure, a riot had broken out and I got the business end of some fanboy's chainsaw.

A friend won a pony keg at a local bar. Only five of us showed up to drink it, so I was three sheets to the wind after my 15th beer. It may have been less, but 15 is a good estimate. It was about a 12 km ride home, and I took my regular route. I recall hitting numerous cars as they jumped out from their parking spots to attack me on my bike. Now, I remember riding up this massive hill on the way home, giggling like an idiot. That's fine, but there was no big hill on my way home. This means that I am experiencing Missing Time, where all the experiences between my two enchanted evenings have been lost, perhaps forever. The bad part is, the two rides were years apart. I am missing the Grunge Years, or parts of them.

There was the time at uni when I clipped a sleeping policeman and was catapulted face-first onto the kerb. Blood, hospital, stitches &c. The irony was that I was on my way to buy gin for the evening's boozing and was, at that time, stone cold sober.

But the absolutely worst drunk biking experience was down Merton St, in Oxford. After Too Much Beer in the Bear, I attempted to cycle down this cobbled st. After about 5 minutes of falling off every 10 yards, I made it to the other end. It's only about 200 yards long.

On a related topic, I've noticed that I feel far drunker after riding home than I do immediately after I leave the bar. Like I'll be in "somewhat tipsy" mode when I get on the bike & end up in "wow things are spinning" mode when I get home. It's not just me, right?
