What's the big deal about those pedals? They are just Shimano downhill pedals. And I doubt the weight of the bike at 23 pounds.

I guess I haven't been paying attention... Shimano DX pedals were discontinued for a long time despite being awesomely rad.

20 something years ago when the DX was introduced in BMX, it was revolutionary in design for platforms. Kinda like the what the eggbeaters design for clipless. Many copied the DX after it was released. I had the crappy Skyway imitations til I got my hands on some DX. They then took the DX "name" over into the early days of Mountain biking.
The initial design has evolved over the years, like that crank brother platform for example. Another example, the Specialized Hardrocks lately have come with close imitations to the original BMX version. |

Where in Santa Cruz is that?
|
Near downtown. It's on the side of one of the large old warehouses on Pacific Ave as you're going towards the Boardwalk. If you're familiar at all with SC this is near our world-famous (haha) Bike Church cooperative.

I know I don't have the nicest of parts, in fact most came used from my local co-op, but it's my heart. I found a nice old Shimano chain ring there (44) and the crank/arm definitely do not match. I'm just a poor college student that can't afford to drop six hundies on a completed pista... http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/phot...57630_5414.jpg http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/phot...57629_5029.jpg When I first built it over a year ago, running a foolish 52:22. It's the best shot of it, though. Also Santa Cruz, California: http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/phot...84812_7486.jpg |

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...i/DSC00102.jpg http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...i/DSC00107.jpg My SS MTB. Polished everything. Can you tell I have a fetish? Deanodized and polished rims.Major pain. Forget oven cleaner, bring on the sink unblocker granules! C'dale P-bone fork, 7-speed LX hubset laced twisted in the back, crow's foot hybrid up front. I tried the Michelin XC road slicks first, as I wanted a fast cornering machine, but they suck bigtime. I could not hold a line in a corner if my life depended on it, so Big Apples it be. Once you get used to them, they corner pretty good. This was before I got hold of a bench grinder with a buffing wheel, so all polishing was either done by hand, or with a small buffing wheel in a hand held drill. Next up are some mill finished deep V's that I will polish to a mirror finish, then lace to my eagerly awaited Phil wood track hubs! Sorry about the crappy pics, I will try upload some non phone pictures soon. Cheers from Holland! |
I dig the hell out of that thing.
2" or 2.35" big apples? |
Propz! You could rail lines of blow off the top tube of that bike!
|
Thank you for the props! 2.35" or 60 mm.
|
I support the previous 3 bikes. Just wanted you to know.
