how would anything make that bike nastier?

Jet-man 12-11-07 12:45 PM

still working on the best way to get the bottle cage on the bike in a clean fashion - not super stable w/ this set-up. Yes I realize I 'should' have black pedals and the red Keos are conspicuous :) but they were the right price.

Red Keos are pretty alright in my book.

Great color combo's man! Looks goooood. Yes, def find a better way to mount that bottle cage. There's a lot of adapters out there. Also, if you're looking to go all matchy-matchy, silver pedals would be radder with some green cages and yellow straps. A yellow saddle would seal the deal...

Hehe, at least you can't call me boring...

Jet-man 12-11-07 01:29 PM

no clips and straps - I'm all about clipless. Yeah, I thought about the yellow saddle - but I'm used to the SLK and don't know if I'm ready to start jacking around w/ new/different saddles.

Thought @ the deal where you can add your own cage - but the cage is lifted off the frame like 1cm - so not sure @ that. Thanks for the link though.

Straws 12-11-07 01:32 PM

Had to put risers on instead of my drops because this hand position is easier on a tendon injury. I miss my drops :(

Right on man. As far as the bottle cage goes I doubt you'll find any manufactured ones that sit that close to the frame. Sounds like you'll have to go with some metal pipe clamps or something else you can find at a hardware store...

Straws is that the parking deck with the circular ramp cause it kind of looks like it is, if so I love that place.

First off, *hi5*

Also, how'd you find racing cross with road calipers? I'm planning on turning my IRO group buy Rob Roy into a sscx bike for next year's season (raced w/ gears this year). Any thoughts in general on racing singlespeed cross? I keep going with the mental debate of "you're going to die out there w/out gears" / "you already die out there with them, plus the bike will have less things to go wrong now" ...

every time i see that bike, i just think "damn, that looks like fun".

el twe 12-11-07 04:33 PM

So much fun. Until leaves get sucked into the brake...

The idea behind the 3-speed conversion is to have a bike that's still OK on asphalt with a total bailout gear for trial climbing. And that in-between one for everything else.

humancongereel 12-11-07 04:41 PM

are you waiting to see if sturmey archer makes that three speed fixed hub again?

el twe 12-11-07 04:45 PM

Yeah. Otherwise I may just do a double-double set up. But I'd need a new crank...

bward1028 12-11-07 04:52 PM

what tires, btw?

el twe 12-11-07 04:54 PM

Bontrager Jones CXR.

like with a double crank a dingle cog (god i hate that name)? i've considered a dingle cog before, i do like some of the idea of it a lot. especially since i don't have a flip flop.

Cynikal 12-11-07 05:04 PM

How wide are the tires? they look kinda tight.

el twe 12-11-07 05:15 PM

They're a skinny 32, and it's very tight. human - yeah, double front, dingle back.
