people spend all this time and money making sure the "colorway" on their bike matches but cant take two seconds to line up the tire label with the ****ing valvestem.

Yeah cause it's SO important to have that **** lined up.

I've never lined up a label with a valve stem... ever. If I did it was an accident.

+1 LOL:D

More likely they don't know.

Some of you fools pick the most inconsequential aspect of a bike build to criticize. If you are going to criticize, then do so in a manner that is compelling and worthwhile- don't just run your mouths about a minor cosmetic issue that has no bearing on the package as a whole.

endo shi 01-12-08 08:38 PM

While we're picking on this poor guy, why do people run clips/straps tucked down? You can't reach down and tighten/loosen them.

Oh, and running labels w/ the valves is a must. If you have to ask why then you'll never get it. You'll also sell your track bike in two years and talk about how you used to ride.

Suttree 01-12-08 08:44 PM

some people don't mind hunting for what caused a flat without
reference points, some people take drugs for OCD,
and some people feel a need to keep all their **** squared away
just right, props heres a biscuit

That's stupid. I rode fixed for over a year without knowing why people would always be nitpicks about that, and just so that you can locate the spot on the tire where it got punctured to make sure there isn't something still stuck in there after getting a flat. Big deal.

Just because FG riding is such a big 'thing' these days doesn't mean you have to get all defensive in proving that you're OG or more knowledgeable than the beginning rider. The truth is that nobody gives a ****.

Yeah, I don't get that one. I don't think the valve/label thing is really that big of a deal. You can just take a quick mental note as to the relation between them as you pull the tire off.

Wait, there's a Pokemon NJS bike on the line here?

Dude. Line up your labels with your valve stem, seriously, did you just start riding, like, yesterday? You are so behind the times.

Zombie Carl 01-12-08 08:52 PM

I still line mine up, though...

Great for the trails here in SW virginia. 22T x 21T = ridiculous spinnage downhill :)

Asking (stupid) questions is how learning happens. If you're too caught up in internet posery to answer them, you shouldn't be here.

So...why line up the valve stem with the label?

To make it look nice and clean

what fork is that?

EDIT: and what stem is that? Is it adjustable angle?

VT tallbike 01-12-08 09:24 PM

Its so when you get a flat you can tell if its from the rim or some debris. It's really only helpful if you get more then one flat. Then if you notice that when you line up the label with the valve stem and all the punctures are in the same spot its most likely due to the rim or something still stuck in the tire.

br995 01-12-08 09:25 PM

What STEM is that?

(nice present, btw)

miss_emma 01-12-08 09:25 PM

Ahhh, thank you. I am learned.
