Well done, sir.

Finally got it back from the powdercoater.

It's an old Gitane frame with a bunch of no name parts, enjoy:

nice and simple... I enjoyed it very much as an entry level ride . Excellent work dude .

Gyeswho 01-28-08 08:09 AM

Thanks guys. The rims are Mavic OP CD and the stem is an ITM 800 Open stem (I scored it off ebay and was looking for another like it but they don't seem to be made anymore)

The gussets really surprised me because they were never shown in the pics on ebay. When I took it out the box I was pleasantly surprised and swooned by how "different" it was

The flip side of the hub is set up to be single speed and it is lined up so that the chainline is between the two chainrings so that all I would have to do to drop the ratio down far enough for MTB is to use a shorter chain. Now with the Fixed cog on there I don't think that the chainline will be straight enough to use the smaller ring in the middle position so I basically need to get single stack bolts but haven't gotten around to it so that when I decided to switch this bike into Fixed MTB mode the small ring will be in the outer position and I will have 32x17 ratio which should be fine for the singletrack around here that I usually ride.

please get some proper bars.

TehK 01-28-08 12:33 PM

Those bars are intense...

frankstoneline 01-28-08 12:36 PM

Are those bars an old seatpost?

nick burns 01-28-08 12:43 PM

Those aren't bars, they're stem handles.

an old broom handle.

jdeane4 01-28-08 01:16 PM

So I finally got my Dura Ace wheelset and my new Thomson Masterpiece seat post. I feel my bike is finally coming together. I plan on getting a Miche Advanced crankset a Chris King headset to finish the bike off. I really enjoy these Dura Ace hubs and the Open Pro wheels. Good setup, I do recommend.

no way man. how is he going to zip between gaps only 8 inches wide with huge mtb bars? next up on the chop list are his cranks to shorten his q factor.

also his hips and shoulders.

TheKingFiphtin 01-28-08 01:20 PM

oo.

also thinking about choppin the head too, really creates a lot of drag ... need to be aero!

conor 01-28-08 01:47 PM

i was all set to jump on barnzy about his bar length, but then it occurred to me: how many people just ride in on their drops or bullhorns? if you don't use the other sections, then why keep them?

chase. 01-28-08 01:51 PM

climbing. skidding. sprinting. hand positions.
