And it looks like they are pink. Nothing against pink, just that they are colored at all.

I would kill for that messenger bag, you're one of the few people on these forums with good taste in design/colors :D |

I moved house, now I live in the hilliest area ever, and after getting sick of spinning out down hill and no having a low enough gear to back it back up other hills, my bike went from this..

Your bike looks like it is sneaking back in the house in the 2nd image - after a night on the booze. I just kinda rested it there while I rolled my garbage can in from the street. Then I was like "hey this would make a great picture" so I ran in and got my camera. My first pic of this bike:) |

Nice restoration. I hope that there was not rust on the inside of those tubes.
|
riser stem with drops? interesting choice.
|
looks like quite the tank of a frame, some schwinn continental type ****
|
it's a premier. only reference i can find to it on the internet is one that says it was made by some aussie builder in the 70s. the stem was just what the bike shop had in stock that would fit my bars so i'm trying it out for a while. near as i can tell, it's awesome. haha. i think it's made for retro beach cruiser kinda bikes.
there wasn't a whole lot of rust on the inside. just sorta around the openings. nothing that a little rusteater and a wire brush couldn't make short work of. many thanks to mike at gregg's cycles for helping with all the parts and getting good stuff for cheap (turns out there's a lot of bizarre fittings for this bike). many MORE thanks to jerry at fluid ride for putting it all together for some pizza and beer. |
I take it you live in seattle?
|
also, just because i've read questions/threads about this issue...
the wheels are weinmann dp18's which i bought for 130 bucks off ebay from a seller that just sells a bunch of them for cheap. a lot of people seemed to wonder about the quality of the rim -vs- a deepV and how well made they'd come. my buddy who runs a pro downhill shop inspected em and put them through a light torture test (light by downhill rim standards). they both came almost perfectly true. the only issue was the rear wheel's tension was a little low, so he just tightened it up quick and bam. sweet strong wheels for 200 bucks less than deepv's. |
lynnwood, but yeah.

boinker, you did a great job with that bike. I hope you Frame Saver-ed the tubes! |
i hope frame saver-ed is bike slang for "gave a light inspection and cleaned out what rust you could see and then squirted some rust eater inside"

You know there's nothing remotely unusual about using drop bars and a riser stem, right?
