bikes were popular! |
solid build, the first time ive seen major taylor bars not look wierd on a bike. but please please please(if you have some cash left over) get one of the cool sugino mighty comp rings(thats what they are right? the oval cut outs). the msngr ring looks out of place. but i love the bike!
|
I really wanted major taylor bars for the longest time. Then I realized, they look really uncomfortable when not riding in the drops.

Finished my Kenevans conversion about 4 weeks ago and am loving it.
Thanks to everyone for all the info on here and a few other places. Posted a bit here and there, but, hi, I'm Joel. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/landres/side.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ed7962c2b5.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...cfd4ae2d14.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...dc70baaffd.jpg Full story here... http://www.flickr.com/photos/landres...7594585452161/ |

that bomber pro could use a generous helping of cloth tape on the bars... |

I'm a big fan of the major taylors, the sweep makes the drops way more comfortable, not quite sure why more drops aren't built like that. Key to them is getting the right width, have a wider pair that look completely silly on the bomber, while these narrow ones don't work at all on the bike that gets the wide ones. |
nice conversion!!
|
Nice conversion indeed, that is a very pretty bike.
|
i really like that green
|
fool, you're color blind
|
I think that granny smith bike is pretty much sex.
Couple of questions... how did you chrome the lugs/stem/cranks/bars to that point? did you paint it yourself or was it a powdercoat? Thanks. |
That conversion is gorgeous. Well done!
|
great conversion! the color way is very 1970 tennis star?

Le Pomme is her name as I'm English living in AUS. Click the flickr link. I got the whole frame chromed and masked it myself. Then took to the local car spray joint and the did the paint for 60AUD (the price of painting it myslef almost). Just had to cut the tape out with a scalpel. The other stuff is all polished. See the DIY thread for my method. |
I have checked out the flickr link and your DYI post. Very nice.
I can see how you chromed the stem...but the entire frame or even the chainstays would be really awkward to apply that over cleaner to, unless that is just for the anodized parts. Either way, I think I got myself a project for the summer :) |
[QUOTE=jol]Finished my Kenevans conversion
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/landres/side.jpg The ridiculous thing is that paint looks even BETTER in the flesh. Great build up Joel. I've got an Australian Cycling mag from 1983 with an ad by Kenevans for his custom built road and track frames. I'll put it on fyxomatosis soon. See you on the road. *tc |
th's bike is beyond fresh and clean. beyond show room quality. beyond catalog.......almost. good job. you can only ride that one while wearing a fur coat and drinking out of a pimp cup/chalice. campy (atala/atlanta rims would work nicely with the build)
|
great to see the build finished joel real classy....KENEVANS are spreading ....dope.
