yes, i was.
the iro lost 2 pounds just by switching out the stock fork.
i think that the scrambler probably weighed the same as the bfssfg did stock, but the weight is spread out through the entire bike.

I'm with ny, he has a sick bike and may be responding with hostility because everyone has been hating on him for no real reason and just "assume" stuff about how and where he rides

Jabba Degrassi 12-30-08 02:35 PM

If you only ride in the tops, don't rock drops.

He says risers are for children, and yet he rides in essentially the same position drops or straight bars would afford him. Not only that, but he says he switches out to another set of track bars that are, presumably, set up with grips or tape in the drops, when on the track. That seems more than a little senseless.

11201ny 12-30-08 02:39 PM

look at your gearing. you should be riding hybrid.

Jabba Degrassi 12-30-08 02:42 PM

Not all of us need to compensate for "personal" inches with gear inches.

one of the many reason why this place is so funny at times.

What people are getting at is if you mainly ride on the tops only, then consider getting bars with no drops (flats or even bullhorns) because you're going for a look without using it fully. I could care less how it looks since it's your bike and you like riding it that way (but I do agree having grips only on the top takes away from the aesthetics of your bike, which is what the main gripe is about)

11201ny 12-30-08 03:07 PM

i'm done in this thread for now, but before i go let me point this out:

1. jabba, Why are you riding track cranks on a street bike? Why the double straps on a bike with a brake? Why the top tube protector when you have padded road drops?

are you not borrowing from track?

2. who gives a ****?

Gyeswho, you need not get involved. You're aesthetics have nothing to do with me.

Track cranks because I didn't want to have to play "adjust the chainline" with a set of converted road doubles or triples, double straps because I like the peace of mind and added comfort, TT protector just to be on the safe side, and because I had an extra bit of bar tape to play with.

Did I say I wasn't borrowing from track?

(sorry guys, get back to your assembly line bike circle jerk)
you all should meet some ladies.

Jabba Degrassi 12-30-08 03:24 PM

Wouldn't it be an assembly circle? Or maybe a line jerk?

he said 90%.
i see the reason to have drops for that other 10% for a bad headwind or a quick sprint for some reason.

the rensho has some nice lugs.
NY all the comments from the dumbasses here is what makes this place so fun.

kmoy2002 12-30-08 10:05 PM

I'll play. Mainly stock except for Shimano SPD's and Continental Ultra Race (red) Tires; Easton Delta Force Carbon Bullhorns and Selle San Marco Ponza (red) saddle on its way. Comments welcome.

The T1 and the Langster S-Works are, in my opinion, the best looking "major manufacturer" aluminum track bikes on the market. How does that ride on the street?

ok, ok, the water bottles don't match, BUT that's only because i hit a bump rather fast, and it leaped itself out : O :bike2: i decided not to go back for it O:-) too many people around, and cars behind me.

oh go get your own :P besides, it's not a titanium rail, probably weigh your bike down

In that case the whole bar should be wrapped.

kmoy2002 12-30-08 10:24 PM

Honestly, I just bought the T1 a week ago and this is my first fixed gear/track bike. I've been a road guy for the most part. The allure of these bikes for me was weight. I considered the Langster S-Work as well but I got a better deal on the T1.

The weathers been really sloppy around here so I haven't really taken it out on the streets yet. I was however able to ride it around a bit and do a few track stands but thats it thus far. The preconceived notion that track bikes would be really stiff and harsh for street use that I heard from many was unnoticeable to me. The ride of the Trek was a bit stiffer than my road bike but nothing that I would consider drastic nor uncomfortable.
