http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...2Optimized.jpg My two SS/FG bikes. The top bike is pretty obvious. 48/16 free, 48/14 fixed. The bottom bike was my MTB from the late '80's/early '90's. It was a Royce Union Savoy 18 speed with Shimano indexed bits that had been sitting in my parents garage, unused, for over a decade. Its the rain and path bomber now! My first effort at a conversion didn't work out because the frame wasn't quite right for me. I knew this one fit when I picked it up. Steel framed, big Trek saddle (not pictured), 16 tooth freewheel, tires from my old Schwinn Frontier, Sugino 170 mm cranks with a 40t ring on the inside of the spider, original canti brakes, mismatched wheels (aluminum front, steel in the rear). Even the fenders are unmatched! I would eventually like to change the brakes, fenders, wheels, handlebars, tires, make it fixed/free with an IRO flip flop, and put a bigger chainring on it. Aside from those changes, I love it.:D |
Advice for the Cervelo: go back to drops and trade me the aero bars.

i thought it was all NYU kids that decides to stay there after college. then of course there are the ghetto hoods where the poor blacks and latino's live. but recently a lot of white people have been moving in. If you walk up 125th street in harlem, there are scores of white people. amazing! I think it must be because of the rent stablized apts. |
Today was rich with cranksets.
I picked up some sugino 75s for the bareknuckle: http://naughtylittlemonkey.org/bkcranks.jpg And while I was there, I decided I liked the look of these for the conversion: http://naughtylittlemonkey.org/boone1.jpg http://naughtylittlemonkey.org/boone2.jpg I'm expecting mixed reactions on the boone cranks. I'm going to take off the logos tomorrow. |

I think they look cool, and they seem stiff as hell. I just figure the guys more into the classic look might hate on them. The guy who made them went into making titanium jewlery after the bike thing fell through. My GF got me one of his rings for my birthday, so it seemed fitting to have the cranks.

Liking the Boone cranks, no doubt. Are these hard to come by now that he is out of business?

Sawed the brake bridge off my FG to get a nice chubby in there. I should probably have given him a bath before I took this photo.
