If you look close, his chain does have some slack in it and being that far forward in the dropout isn't a bad thing.
It will wear the parts prematurely as it is. Its undebatable. |

And don't start up with the e-penis "how expensive is your bike" game. I might not be able to afford a custom track frame, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong about those bars. a guy posts a pic of a beautiful bike in a thread called "Your Fixed Gear/SS Photos!", & instead of either a) saying something constructive, or; b) complimenting a great build, you participate in on some ridiculous nonsense about a topic that is solely a riders preference... bars & grips. the point i was making last night is that it's ridiculous & demeaning to write posts like that. the thread begins to sound more like an elderly sewing circle. this place is a fantastic source of collective knowledge. don't scare people off just because you are insecure about the bike you ride (it's a nice bike). |
jabba meant no harm - he's alright.
talking about nerdy bike stuff on these forums can get rather pointed and detailed. but thats what happens when people really into a subject or hobby get together with differing opinions. sparks will fly. I did think your friend was a jerk, so he's gotta expect as much in return. |

from what i read, that wasn't really the case. there is a lynch mob mentality here that some members (yourself included) really seem to enjoy. as far as what i said to Geordi Laforge, that dudes alright (he actually seems to know what he is talking about). you on the other hand, seem to have some deeper issues.

grow up man, this place isn't about you. |
No, but that post was. I didn't reply to "this place," I replied to your post.

while having a correctly-tensioned chain is obviously important for efficiency and low wear, i think it's a little bit silly to presume you can see a too-tight chain in a photograph better than the owner can feel it in person.

Here's my conversion- My second fixed gear. Plans are to eventually replace this bike with an old Bianchi track frame, then convert my current bike back to it's glory days as a road bike... onto the picz

Boy I love bianchis.

I guess this is a good time to remind people that it is always a good idea to read twice and post once and pretend the person you are talking to is in the room... if what you say here would get you knocked on your ass in the real world then it is probably something you should keep to yourself.
You always have the option to self edit your posts if you feel you have crossed the line and that is really preferable to having me or one of the other moderators come and clean things up... really. There is a difference from ripping on someone in a good natured way and making things personal... I just like to come here and play... make me work too hard and I'll start to get pissy. :D |
Saddle angle looks suspicious on that bianchi.

suspicious how? It's a 54cm frame and I'm about 6'0'' lots of leaning forward. it looks mo' better in person I assure you.
|
that's not a great argument for you
