Here's an additional two thumbs way down...

although I love the look of box profile they're just not very aero or durable. The H+ rims offer both of these things in spades. I respect your difference in opinion though. A lot people like the safe, traditional look for these neo-vintage track frames. As an architecture student I understand that it's impossible to cater to everyone's different tastes, therefore I only took my own preferences into consideration. I admit that the photo is bad and will post a better one when I get the chance.

I think the bike looks great, but in general deep section rims look better
with a street worthy tig welded thrasher than on a classic.

why do you need aero wheels?
and you got h+sons for durability?

also, mavic open pros are a pretty strong rim. obviously not as durable as a similarly laced cxp33 or deep v, but saying box rims aren't durable is wrong.

edit: although it doesn't really matter. it's your money and your bike, as long as you like it that's all that really matters.

Close. Drexel. I interned at Space1026 over the summer, which included running some errands around UArts, etc... so if you move in that community, we probably crossed paths at least once.

The H+Son rims have been on the market for, what, a few months now?

How is that enough to argue that they're durable?

tepr 11-20-08 09:05 PM

what a nincompoop

you dont need aerodynamic wheels on the street, and a box wheel will be perfectly durable if built properly

you couldve at least gotten black rims

rmedina8804 11-20-08 09:42 PM

I think that discussing what I need and what I want are two different things. My 32h araya to shimano hub wheel that I owned before was heavier and less durable. I weight about 185-190 with a bag and put a considerable amount of strain on my bike. I race in sprints and alleycats and commute almost every day. There is no question in my mind that these are the nicest wheels I could have built for myself considering how, and how often I ride my bike. And from a design standpoint black rims would create a muddy look next to the black frame. The white rims bring out the white details in the fork, typography, and linework throughout the frame. This is difficult to see in my crappy picture that I posted but the bike looks incredible in person.

bionnaki 11-21-08 12:55 AM

I would have gone with a box rim, but your bike looks great regardless. I dont get the pink saddle though.

rmedina8804 11-21-08 01:17 AM

its not pink its red

if by "dope" you mean hideous and very hot topic, then yes, it is quite dope.

while h+sons are more aero they are not more durable/cost effective than velocity veeps.
i'd actually put money on a mavic open pro being a stronger wheel than the h+sons.

and, as said above, deep section on the thrasher, classics on the classics.

i still dont mind your bike tho.

jdms mvp 11-21-08 06:11 AM

very much depends on the builder also.

rmedina8804 11-21-08 07:48 AM
