what happens when you hit a pot hole with that kind of clearance? it looks so hot, but for street riding i'd be afraid i'd be doing some serious damage to the wheel.

What better way to introduce myself than to post my ride. Sometimes, you can tell a lot about a person by their bike. And, yes - I am small, white, and sometimes feel like I'm stuck in one gear! :p

Anyhow, I'm looking forward to chatting to you all.

So, in conclusion, Absntr must be made of money to ride that thing in the winter. Hello salt, hello corrosion!

I take care of my rides. Frame saver, etc. The bike is actually stripped down to the frame right now and has been meticulously cleaned. The reason I actually rode that bike that night was because my daily rider was being re-aligned after a car tagged me in the rear.

As for potholes: I try to avoid them! ;) It's certainly not a bike I ride on the street too often but once in a while it's fun and I ride my bikes to ride them, track or no track. Why save it for another day? Enjoy them while you can.

Raygunner -
Haven't seen you in a while now! Bring that steel out to Cleo's tonight! I'll buy you a bearclaw and an eggnog!
Nice build (tighten that chain, brother!).

My first true track bike. Early 90s "Porter" track frame, handbuilt in New Mexico with Columbus PL tubing and cast Cinelli lugs.

This is my Phil/Surly/DeepV wheelset from my chrome Raleigh conversion...I have another set on order, but this looks pretty good, so it just might stay this way. Selle Turbo saddle, Kalloy seatpost, Campagnolo Chorus headset, generic stem from Yojimbo's, Nitto B123s, white Velox tape. Sugino 75 cranks, 44t Omega chainring, Crank Bros Eggbeaters, annnnnnd KMC BMX chain.

Someone with a decent camera, halp!

genericbikedude 12-17-05 04:06 PM

Most of you people have lovely bikes. But PLEASE, dont post pics with saggy chains!!!

Bike porn with saggy chains is like sex porn with saggy boobs!

Pull your wheel back before snapping people!

nice ride CD... that frame looks to be in great condition.. i'm feeling the color scheme.

how do you like the eggbeaters?

chicagoamdream 12-17-05 04:21 PM

Thanks...Marcus really cleaned it up when I brought it in, and aside from a few nicks, the paint's in fine shape. Just one tiny ding on the top tube.

I'm so sick of that camera, it's just not doing anything justice. Naz is able to get richer colors through slush.

Big fan of the beaters...they're on both of my bikes now. Have you tried yours out?

My other wheelset for this one is a eggplant Deep V's built on Suntour hubs. But I don't have any tires so they're sitting in the corner...

I dunno, that's about it.

PS - Sorry about the sagging chain, I'm not really up on BF photo etiqutte.
