That's going to be one ugly-ass bike.

br995, can you reccomend a mechanic in the harajuku area? Id love to do my own tune up before I take this on the road but I don't have any tools/grease and dont want to buy a whole set while im here.

Yeah Carnival is a cool shop but i wouldnt personally have much work done there.
The only other place around there is Pro-teck. Never had work done there but the guy was usually building something cool when i went by and was always nice.
They have some cool parts and better prices too.
Its hard to find though but if you go by the Recon shop those guys can help you out.
If you dont know where Recon is..its on the tiny street that comes off Omotesando dori next to Wendy's. There will be about 3 track bikes atleast sitting out front. Theyll help you out on a map.

abeabe 06-25-07 11:43 AM

oh damn im sorry I'll go return all the parts I don't really know what I'm doing anyway : (

deathhare: thanks I found a small service and repair based shop near my apartment. It was closed (obviously) but im going to head there tommorow. thanks for you help.

btw tokyofixedgear.com is the site im working on

that fork looks weird...is it original, it looks to have lots and lots of rake.

nice looking bike though.

grand compes are amazing. i think its an issue of visibility and they arent exactly a NAME BRAND like say DA's, Miche, etc. the finish on these things....totally completely great. they are similar in shape to formula's but the fit and finish is top top quality. fixed/fixed a set will run about 110-$145. as far as the sprints, they rock. ive had them for about six months. they were coming apart out of the pakage but once i got them in the pedal ive no issues. ive ridden through rain, hail and sunny days...still going strong. the only problem ive *sort of* had with them are the tips that are delaminating at the buckle, but yanno just pinch the two parts together, reinsert into buckle and ride on.

thanks for the compliment.

thanks.
the fork is original but in that photo it had been slightly raked out due to a mishap while i was in san diego.
two days later i magaged to put a kink in the steertube and rake the fork out even more. now the frame and fork are sitting next to me waiting to get repaired and repainted. for the meanwhile i'll be on a fuji track pro which should show up to my shop tomorrow. im not really looking foward to riding an oversized alloy bike but it should only be for the summer.

Testing to see if I can actually post a full pic as opposed to the lil itty bitty attachments...?

Ahh, the old Aero Track. I think that's my favorite machine-
built frame of all time.

**** that, i demand a picture with you standing in the drops. (riding, with your hands on the bar top and your feet in the drops, balancing all your weight on the front wheel.)

FLop and chops would be cool too, maby illegal.

br995 06-25-07 04:52 PM

The people demand bum bars!

roughrider504 06-25-07 07:13 PM

This can be endless. Deeper ram horns would be sick.

mykrrrr 06-25-07 08:13 PM

I still miss my Fastback. Didn't have the ram's horn bars but it was sure fun riding around campus. Glad I didn't sell my non-restored '65 Stingray Deluxe. :)

dookie 06-25-07 08:57 PM

i'm gonna jump in here because, well, that's what we do...right?

the pink bridgestone is a gorgeous keirin machine...75's, nitto track stem, double straps, biggie dura-ace...yes please! i'll even give you the gloves...but risers/ourys? not an f'n chance. a *travesty*. you will burn if you build it that way.

in trade, i can offer only modern taiwanese. my decidedly non-hipster, non-urban, first-recent-and-only fixed-gear trainer...which i do like to think is well spec'd and may even have a bit of class...NJS, bah! ~60mi on it today...damn, got the bar tape dirty!
