I have a 48t Zen sitting right here but I think it's pretty ugly.

Well, I'll be setting off on my 12 consecutive fixed metric century today but with my wife.
Well duh.
Nah you just can't handle the awesome. Maybe look at it again tomorrow?

Today I yesterday I got shoulder checked by a pedestrian for absolutely no reason.
We were on opposite sides of a wide MUP and I was riding <8 mph. He looked at me and started walking right towards me and then threw his shoulder into me as I rode by. I stopped and confronted him about it and he said he didn't see me and it was an accident. I figured something was mentally wrong with this guy because he was wearing a giant down winter coat in the middle of august. I didn't want to start anything with him since you never know who's got a knife or gun so I just dropped it. Still pisses me off though. There are tons of guys on mtbs that fly down the MUPs going 15+ weaving through people and I could see someone throwing an elbow at them but I was being totally respectful of the other pedestrians.

GXP may be great for some people but it ain't for this guy. I suppose I could have sprung for a better quality GXP BB but I'm way over messing with it.

I almost drowned at the river trying to swim across. Got confused, fought the current, paniced and then got dragged through about a half mile of river before I managed to get to an edge.

Today I went swimming in the ocean. The water was surprisingly warm/calm considering we're in the midst of a "hurricane".

All that stuff is always over-hyped. I remember last winter we were expecting a "Snowmageddon" that was nothing more than a little ice and 3-4 inches of snow.

Seriously. Some of the wind happening here was pretty close to knocking me right off my feet if I didn't really brace myself and a lot of people living right on the water lost their fences but it really wasn't bad at all here.
Angie is a local news photographer and she was called in today to "cover the hurricane". She got some pretty boring pics (except for one of a guy riding a jet ski through a flooded intersection).

my wife is a runner, marathons and all that, and when i woke up this morning she was missing. i assumed she was out for a jog[this is normal]. i got up and made breakfast for the kids and she showed back up RIDING THE PREVIOUSLY UNTOUCHED BIKE I PUT TOGETHER FOR HER IN THE SPRING.
'you actually rode your bike?'
'i put a load of laundry in this morning and felt bad for it just sitting there in the basement.'
'im glad you rode the bike, did you like it?'
'i didnt see the same boring things'
i will convert her.
so, yea -- 'Today I:' MADE BREAKFAST.

Today I rode the longest yet on the fixed gear in one day - ~40 miles, 20 each way to go watch the first cyclocross races of the season. It was so cool, all relays today and we had a blast. My husband is going to be racing CX for the first time this year. I kind of want to join him but don't think I'm ready. Maybe next year. although the coed relay today looked fun and I kind of wished I had done it.
Crazy awful headwinds coming home plus not bringing proper food/supplies meant I pretty much bonked on the way home and at several points thought I would have to stop and take a break.

Today, we rode down the street to watch the USA Pro Cycling Challenge. It was pretty ****ing awesome. So much adrenaline, it felt like the running of the bulls. We were front row to see Levi Leipheimer win. I rode a cop's bike (which just seems illegal, and really confused the 15 year old in me), won a jersey, had a nice chat with the runner up, and drank my weight in tequila. Not too bad!
