Today I cheated death when walking in a mall parking lot on the way to get some christmas shopping done. Some whacko lady in this clapped out green honda accord deciding to cut the turn into that row hopped the curb at a speed that should not be done in a parking lot. Missed me by a little more than a foot.

This shop also quoted me $45 to mill a fork. I thought it was a fluke, maybe their other labor charges aren't outrageous...Guess not lol
Even though the LBS is a Soma Dealer, I don't think I'll be taking my business there.

Then I emailed them this morning, and still nothing.

2> Similar situation with those 722s I got from coghouse. Talked to someone who was aware of the problem on Friday, had to send another email today. Was told nothing could happen until they hear from their boss (I'm okay with keeping most of it, but one of the forks looks like it was in the "Otis" video). I brought up that there's no way I could turn around and relist anything they sent me as a new item, so they shouldn't do it either. Hopefully the 'boss' over there can let their employee know what they're allowed to do as far as returns or compensation goes
Yeah I don't know if I would mess with citygrounds, I think the reviews are solid and the workers I saw were pretty cool. But the way they handled their black friday sale was meh. Just made me hesitant to deal with them and their prices aren't the greatest (ex. their sale price for USB Knog Boomer is higher than Scrod's regular price). But I think a lot of people have had good experiences with them.

As for coghouse, my frame and fork arrived in good condition. I saw your pics and I would be pissed. If that happened during shipping it's their fault, if it happened before shipping, it's their fault. Either way, their fault.

At 109g/tube they actually aren't that heavy. The tubes I'm running right now (nothing special) are 96 and 110ish grams. Hell, I'd buy them for the blue stems.

So I didn't get the color I wanted, and I didn't get the head badge I wanted. I still love the bike. The tubing on the 722 is interesting. I've never seen one in person.

Haha, I say that now, but I just realized they may be the only dealers that have a bike that could fit my wife. I live close enough to them to go in person though.

I said the same thing about the tubing after I caressed it down. Gonna be my first build, I was between raw and green, went with green to recapture some of the old magic from my first bike which was too big for me. Might go for cc's old Serpent look or brown saddle/bar tape.

San Francisco bikeshops and bikeshop employees pay at least 4x the rent you do

Nice man, I'm looking forward to seeing the black friday 722 builds I think mine will be the last to be done though ahaha.

I'm probably going to do the brown tape/saddle on the Schwinn. My 722 is going to be ugly for a few months I think, as I switch more parts out and return parts to the Kilo.

I should have a raw and blue to show off by the end of the week unless I have to send that fork back The tubing is much nicer in person than you see in pictures, I love the look of both of them a lot. Wish I had picked up Tange headsets for both, they're so damn nice looking but I foolishly let the gf choose which one she wanted, thinking the fancy FSA box would lead her that route

Yeah, my 722-RS made me really consider a 722-TS for the longest time. Maybe if I come across a used one.

I gotta wait to build mine until I sell one of my bikes and get my wife a bike as well, so I think I'll have you beat. I don't mind waiting though, soooo many options for parts. If you're still planning on the black/silver combo, it's gonna be sick either way.

I hope they help you out with that fork issue. Did you want the Tange over the FSA strictly because of the look? Are we talking about the FSA Orbit X?

revised story after another phone call:

coghouse is bad at email but good on the phone, so if you have a problem. call them. I'm getting some money refunded for the scratches on the fork and frame, keeping it all. but was offered to have new ones sent to me

kind of ironic huh?

I always found that the more money I had, the more thrifty I became.
When I was in college, I knew it was only a matter of time before I was completely broke and hitting up the credit card, just waiting for that next loan to come in. Money was transitory.

Now that I am working a real job and seeing some money, I want my assets to appreciate. I certainly spend less now (as a percentage of my income) than I did just 18 months ago.

Today I put the Chrome Berlin bag to forreal work. Carried a copy box plus two other packages plus all my personal junk with comfort and ease. The roominess is awesome, the compression straps keep everything secure, and the X-strap helps distribute the weight. Even with 30+ lbs on my back I was riding comfortably. Really like this bag.

Also it was my last day of courier work for a while.
