Today I realized I forgot to close the quick-release jawns on my road bike's brake calipers until about a mile and a half into my commute to work. I think this is part of the reason I ride a brakeless fixed gear bike most of the time.

I always crank down my brake cable settings upon new pad install, making QRs down = major drag, so I notch the QRs up a few notches. Then just notch the QRs down a little bit at a time after cable stretch and pad wear occurs.
I'm a sloppy roadie.

This is why we can't have nice things.

... cute kills.
Today I found an aluminum CX frame IN MY SIZE on craigslist for $200. I want it. I can't afford to build up a bike now, but I wouldn't need it til the fall... Argh.
Do it! N+1, SQRL, N+1.
If anyone knows the weight difference between the Bianchi Volpe 46cm frame+fork (steel) and the Redline Conquest 44cm frame+fork (aluminum), I'm all ears.

It may not be a big weight difference but the Alu bike will feel faster and that's important. Now is the time to buy a cross frame before people start getting excited for the season. I'd do it and hold on to it or swap the parts from your volpe and build the volpe into a commuter.

I've only got about 10 hours or so pack riding with gangs of roadies. Sometimes I think that's about enough

Local club rides would probably snotrocket or Cinzano me if I tried to get on their pace line cuz I rarely wear a lid.
Swapped out my wife's stock front brake on her 2012 Fuji Betsy with a Ultrega brake. Let's see if she notices the difference.
Today (yesterday technically), I dethroned the KOM of a local "climb." Not really a climb, more like a short hill.

0.3 miles, 103 ft of elevation. I shot up the thing at 17.6 mph avg. It's about a 6.4% grade the whole way. Not exactly a contested segment, but I wouldn't exactly say nobody rides through it either. I worked kind of hard for it - I know I can shave another few seconds off if a bus doesn't get in the way next time.
I didn't really do this ride in attempt to KOM, I just rushed back home because I was so angry I left my debit card at home while out to run errands. Stupid stupid stupid.
