Regarding Jeans:

- Turn inside-out
- Wash on "gentle" in cold water
- Hang dry outside (preferred) or inside

Nice a crispy. Color and texture will last for YEARS. Will not shrink.

I have some Levis 501s (not shrink to fit) that I've been wearing weekly since 2008 by using this process.

I'm not sure what happened to GMJ. I know he's not banned.

Went to that link and after I answered yes I sat at my laptop for a good 10 minutes trying to sign in while I was already signed in...

DERP.

Carleton may not be a personal shopper - but he's got more household tips than Heloise.

Some of my cousins used to own a family dry cleaning business. Dry cleaning jeans (especially with professionally pressed creases) gives you that "Grown & Sexy" look:

Not really my thing :/

My first job was there as a kid. FWIW, anything that's not "dry clean only" gets washed the same way you wash items at home. The difference is that they press the clothes while they are still damp right out of the washer's spin cycle. They don't dry then press as most people do at home.

BTW, cotton shirts will last decades this way. For example, I bought my cousin (who ran the cleaners) the same black cotton button down shirt that I'd bought for myself one year. 2 years later mine was toast. 10 years later I look in his closet and see the shirt I got him looking no more than 1 month old.

Make her buy you some Rapha bibs, they are glorious.

Nagrom_ 08-10-12 02:32 PM

So today I shattered my PR for my usual out and back loop. 47/17, averaged 20.1mph. By best before that was 16.9mph.

If you guys can go away for a month, and climb some ****ing mountains, do that. Pretty sure this is why my time was so much better:

My usual loop:

The loop I rode for a month, 3-4 times a week:

Don't worry, my mom has done much much worse.... for a recent ex. feather duster + mac pro internals while it was on. Thank god for apple care and apple giving customer's the benefit of doubt.

I don't like the stiff feel of air dried clothes so I put the dryer on "delicate" and dry clothes 15 mins at a time, instead of wet to dry all at once. I also use Woolite for dark clothes on my jeans and nice shirts.

Nagrom_ 08-10-12 05:36 PM

Just got muh truing stand in the mail. woot.

RGNY 08-10-12 06:44 PM

just tried watching tv for about 10min. what a bunch of crap. back to checking groups and then reading a book, maybe Netflix later.

going to check the local rattlecan color palette tomorrow. '11 Jamis Sputnik frame that ended up in my garage will either get a metal flake purple or pink paintjob and get built up. i have a local shop that will shoot it, just in case, but i've done frames before.....

Dude, I gave up on TV 3 years ago. It's all Netflix or videos on my computer from here on out.

Dannihilator 08-10-12 06:48 PM

Today I threw around the mtb for a little bit, got home had supper then went for what I thought would be an easy 10 mile ride on the 930, but wound up having a little sprint against some bozo on one of those dumb elliptigo bikes. Needless to say I smoked the dork.

Oh, is that what that forum is for? I was always confused why anyone would want to post there if you need to specially request access, but I guess it's different if it's the only forum you can post in.

+1 for inside-out.
I wash on warm with other colors, and I hang dry inside. Probably not as optimal as carleton's suggestion, but it has worked pretty well for me.

Dude, it's the worst. I'm NEVER going back there.

Does anyone else wish there was more time in a day for riding bikes?

There's nothing wrong with night riding ;)

Roads so empty you can pretend you are in England by riding in the wrong direction.
