It's not exactly common but you need to check your bolts pretty regularly because they do loosen up. It helps to put a small drop of blue Loctite on them before installing. Any steel bolts made for a single ring will do.

Xgecko 03-22-12 07:06 AM

put a bit of clear nail polish on the threads of the replacement bolts...

Scrodzilla 03-22-12 07:08 AM

Loctite > clear nail polish.

Get your own thread. ;)

Not always, it doesn't crack turn to dust under vibration like blue, plus its cheaper.

point taken though......

Scrod do you know if the Token Track Hub is just a rebranded Novatec one?

illdthedj 03-22-12 02:29 PM

I'd be genuinely surprised if the answer were yes, to tell the truth.

I have a Bianchi Campione that very rarely gets ridden except for on the trainer in the winter.

Wait, wait, wait, Scrod not only has a road bike, but it has actual drops (instead of risers)?

Shhh . . . why would you reveal to everyone that I haven't actually checked your PedalRoom recently? :innocent:

Hey Scrod, I just put some new omniums and a new chain on. This is first day, and the noise is driving me crazy. I've measured chainline, front is about 41.7mm and rear is 42mm, The chain is 1/8" (Z410sl if that matters :P) Now I'm wondering if its the 3/32' cog in the back (It has about 1.5k miles on it) it doesn't look that worn. Or Do I need to break in the chain and chainring?

UCF Eric 03-22-12 11:38 PM

Scrod, while not using my speedplays and road shoes I tend to develop hot spots on my commuter setup. Do you have any pedal recommendations that could help get rid of hot spots? I know switching to something that has a stiff sole would help, but other then that. Thanks.

The Omnium chainring is pretty loud when it's new. Same with Z410 chains. Make sure your chain isn't too tight and keep it lubed.

Unless you have huge feet, MKS GR-9s should do the trick.

Been riding geared bikes for the last couple years, liking the heft and width of brifters, would like to replicate that in a set of dedicated brake aero levers.

Name me a pair that doesn't feel like I'm going to rip them off my bars? Cane creek? Tektro?

hairnet 03-23-12 01:19 PM

Tektro and Cane Creek make copies of 10sp Campy hoods

Sram makes their own levers

Shimano, you have to just reuse a brifter

Yeah, but do the tektro and Cane creeks have the same solidity as an ergo? I can see what the look like, but what do they feel like?

hairnet 03-23-12 01:35 PM

He wants something with the feel of a brifter. Those hoods are much different than Shimano STI hoods or any other ones.

I ride with the Tekro levers, they are ok. The Cane Creek may be better. I have some busted Campy shifters, they are better but these other levers feel the same in my hands while riding. Campy's lever has less flex while braking
