Scrod, I really dont know how to explain this but, when i try to tighten my rear wheel, the axel stays in place for one tightening it on the left side but when i get to the right nut it starts moving the left side hence making my rim not go straight. And I can untighten one side, but then the axle moves for the other with the nut but doesnt come lose. Hahaha sorry, its pretty hard to explain this. Basically, the rear hub axel moves when i try to tighten the wheel. What can i do to fix it?

Common problem. Put a drop of oil in between the nut and the spinning washer attached to it so it doesn't bind up while you're tightening them down (if you're not using track nuts with rotating washers, get them). Tighten the non-drive side first, then the drive side while holding the wheel straight. It sometimes helps to go back and forth from side to side, tightening each a little at a time.

I dont know if this goes along with it, but when the wheel would be centered, after a skid or stop, the wheel would be a little to the right. Will that ^ solve it too?

Sounds like you aren't torquing your axle nuts enough.

+1.

What hub/axle nuts are you using?

chi0dos 08-09-12 11:19 AM

Thats the thing, im tightening it pretty hard. Forumla hubs and just regular axle nuts/washer

Scrodzilla 08-09-12 11:23 AM

If you're using nuts that look like these:
http://www.bikeman.com/store/graphic.../HU/HU7100.jpg
where the rotating washer is attached to the nut, HTFU.

If you're using separate nuts and washers, throw them in the trash and get what is pictured above.

Hey Scrod Im sure one of the main reasons you got rid of the kagero and went to the dodici is because the dodici is a custom fit and fits you better but other then that did you have any complaints about the kagero? probably the only leader frame i would buy. I really like the smooth clean look of it but im more interested in how they ride.

hamfoh 08-09-12 12:16 PM

any idea what the bcd of the chainrings are on bianchi pistas? I'm guessing 130bcd, but their site just says the size of the ring. friend has an older chrome model and wants to replace it

I loved my Kagero but it had a little too much saddle to bar drop for my liking. That's literally my only "complaint", and it has way more to do with my body and riding style than the frame.

Measure two holes nearest to eachother on the chainring, and then reference this chart.

hamfoh 08-09-12 01:07 PM

if I had the chainring with me I wouldn't have asked :P

Oh ...when I needed them I went to 4 (four) different LBS and none of them was able to find the right ones.
Ended up ordering them from bikeisland.

Most likely.

JFarhanbod 08-10-12 01:34 AM

If you had wheels with joytech hubs (sealed) or quando (unsealed and cleaned/repacked) which would you run? I know they both suck but these are desperate times lmao

calv 08-10-12 01:43 AM

The mounting bolt on the dia compe brake can barely catch any thread without that ninja star looking washer on my Kagero fork. The brake pads are a few mm from touching it, an I alright without it?

Joytech hubs are Novatec hubs, which are great. I currently have two wheelsets built with Novatecs so that should answer your question.

You should get a longer recessed nut.

JFarhanbod 08-10-12 08:39 AM

hairnet 08-10-12 08:43 AM

Scrod, you were in my dream last night. It was pretty strange, you jumped through a crumbling building and started driving a cop car around. That's all I can remember.

Aircraft stripper should remove either paint or powdercoating. Remove the tire, rim tape and do a test on the inside of the rim to be sure.

scrod...creaking from the handlebar (sleeved bar and quill stem).

will lightly greasing the sleeve and the stem bolt help? wasn't sure if a good idea to grease where the sleeve and stem make contact.
