Which adapter were you going to use?

Nagrom_ 12-12-12 10:24 PM

the FSA press in one.

1koolkat 12-13-12 09:32 AM

Hey Scrod do you know of any good 16 spoke wheels, I think I saw you post something in an older thread. Thanks.

Scrodzilla 12-13-12 09:37 AM

You must be mistaken.

Scrod,
I recently threw a new set of wheels on my bike. DA22 on joy tech hubs. They were cheap and it's my first SS conversion. After the swap from the old 27" x 1 1/4 I'm noticing more friction while pedaling. Is it a wheel thing or just a coincidental problem in my bottom bracket?

Knuxr 12-13-12 02:25 PM

Scrod,

I have had a Kilo TT Pro for a while now and I want to move onto something a bit nicer, so I have two questions:

1. Should I invest into more parts for the Kilo TT? (I already put a new saddle, pedals and stem/handlebars on it)
2. Or should I look into getting a new bike and if this is the case should I look for a prebuilt bike or go to a LBS and build one up?

I love my Kilo TT but I just want something newer and I also wanted to try out Aluminum frames.

What do you mean by "friction"?

The Kilo is a great frame and I don't see anything wrong with upgrading as you see necessary (just ask Nagrom). If you're happy with the frame, I vote for keeping it.

Nagrom_ 12-13-12 03:11 PM

Also, cool thing about it, when you eventually do see the need to upgrade the frame, everything is compatible with damn near every other frame.

That is, if you're using a 1-1/8" stem with a shim.

Indeed I am :thumb:

So what should I look into upgrading next? The Wheelset?

That will be the most noticeable/performance enhancing upgrade.

Muffin Man 12-13-12 03:52 PM

and/or contact points.

Derp: Didnt read. You already did that.
Tires.

INOX NYC 12-13-12 03:53 PM

Hey Scrod. Is it true that you can't get brake cable clips for a 721 frame?

Yes, which is most likely we see so much derpy cable routing on Japanese Leaders.

1koolkat 12-13-12 07:10 PM

Hm maybe it wasn't you. Do you know of the best wheelset I can get for around 200 dollars then? How do the pre built wheels on your website hold up?

Im referring to the alex novatech ones.

Scrodzilla 12-13-12 07:15 PM

You may want to read the first post in this thread.

Those are stupid and serve no more of a purpose than a zip tie without the dumb little skull.

kay, have any experience with these?

Scrodzilla 12-13-12 08:20 PM

Yeah, those are actually pretty good. The little clips pop off pretty easily but unless you're tearing through the woods getting caught in brush and whatnot, they'll be fine.

Muffin Man 12-13-12 09:54 PM

I read something about stressing the wheels after the first time you tension it? What do you do?

1koolkat 12-13-12 10:01 PM

Okay, minus anything about your store, is there a wheelset around 200 dollars that sets itself apart from the other cheap ones? In a good way.

striknein 12-13-12 10:02 PM

Are you seriously asking a retailer of bike parts to advocate for the purchase of goods from a competitor? You've got a pair, friend-o.

1koolkat 12-13-12 10:28 PM

Yes

Scrod rec's products from other shops when the question is asked. I've seen him link from Velomine plenty of times.

Why wouldn't he? A huge reason RG is so successful is probably because he's honest.

It's like the feeling of a brake pad rubbing the rim lightly. Like when a calliper doesn't open all the way. But it's surely not the brakes.

striknein 12-14-12 05:39 AM

Yeah, maybe I overreacted.

Will the wheel spin freely when bolted in the frame without the chain on the cog? If not, your hub is adjusted incorrectly.

There are many. To start, Velomine sells several wheelsets that cost less than $200 and this is a topic that gets discussed on this forum regularly. I don't think I need to provide links to every single one.

Relax, Big D. :)

And why not? I know my shop can't possibly sell everything people want so I have no problem referring them to other reputable sources.
