Hey Scrod man as my Wabi Wheelset purchase gets near i begun to wonder something. On the site it states that the axles are hollow to allow easy Q/R conversion. I ride my kilo as a SS at the moment and would love the simplicity of Q/R for flat s or what have you. Do you see any problems in using Q/R? Any recommend? Preferably chrome. Thanks

Scrod, How much of a difference in ride quality would upgrading my stock loose ball headset to an orbit X make? Or would just some maintenance and grade 25 bearings be about the same?
Edit: How often should I re grease the loose ball headset if I keep it? |
Scro-diddly, are you able to get a full H+Son SL42 wheelset at RG? Or am I building my own?

So today I ran into someone at the bike shop who was running a 26mm bar with a 25.4mm thomson stem, but he replaced the face plate with a 26mm thomson faceplate. Slightly smarter and safer or equally stupid and unsafe? If viable, this opens up more options.
|
Slightly smarter but not much.

There's a craigslist thread. Ask there.

Expecting people to read the first post in this thread is just like expecting people to read the FAQ page on the RG site.

Comparing the MKS GR-9 with the Urban Platform pedal. How much wider are the Urbans and is the platform any larger?
I used the GR-9 for some time but unfortunately, they weren't wide enough - my foot hung off the outside became uncomfortable on longer rides. The Sylvans were just as bad. Currently using their quill pedal which still isn't perfect. My Hillbrick was designed for fixed great and thus has a raised BB - pedal strike has never been an issue with wider pedals. |
scrods got gsr-10's now, same thing but wider
|
Let me know if you want me to post them comparison pics I took Scrod.
Happy with both pedals. I want to say the price difference doesn't justify the performance difference, but man, those Platforms are sweet. |

What brake levers would you recommend for this with the VO Milan bar?
http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...8/IMAG0606.jpg Also, what are you thoughts on running just a front brake? |
Personally, I'd use Tektro FL750 levers with those bars.
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6181/...9e1aa33ae2.jpg It's ok to just use a front brake when riding fixed but if you're using a freewheel, get two brakes. |
Hey Scrod I just installed my FSA ZS-3 headset onto my 735. Now when I went to put my fork on it stops about a 1/4 of a inch from being flush. Am i missing something? Should I try to force it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So the bearings on my rear Novatec hub are super crunchy now. I've only had them for a month, and I'm thinking this can't be normal. I never intentionally adjusted them, so do you have any idea what went wrong?
Edit: Wrong brand. |
