FWIW, the Civia bars come in silver and black and the stem is exactly the same as a Dimension.
Guess I won't be getting a Dimension stem either if I didn't like the Civia. I had mildly high hopes for it, but it just looked sort of cheap in person. The VO -which I got instead - just looks much better finished, for only 5 bucks more. But maybe I'm just being too fussy... |

Scrod,
What's the word on the EighthInch 144bcd cranksets from RG? The website says to use a 68x107mm bb but I've seen people recommend 68x103mm bb's. I'd like to run the chainring on the outside of the spider. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...7-06161806.jpg By the way, there's a thread for that. |

With the ring on the outside where it belongs, you need a 107mm, as stated on the box they come in:

Scrod, So I'm gonna tighten these cranks http://www.vueltausa.com/components/...et-silver.html with out a torque wrench they didn't have torque specs on them. once i tighten the bolt to were some real torque is needed. Then say i have my crank arm at 6 o'clock what time do i put the ratchet then meet in the middle? Does that make sense to you or am I nuts lol?
|
You're nuts.
|
I thought so. lmao!
|
In all honesty, you'll be able to sense when you should stop tightening your crank bolts. Be sure to check them periodically to make sure they're staying tight. If they have a nasty habit of loosening up, clean all the grease from them and use a drop of blue Loctite.
|
Gotcha.

Scrod, I have a EAI BK frame with two cracks in it. There's one on the seattube and and one on the on the left chainstay, they're both relatively small. Is there any reason I couldn't weld them up, grind down the weld and paint the frame?

aside from noise, any issues with running a 1/8th chain on a 3/32 cog (the crank is 1/8)?
Thanks |
scrod have you had the chance to use the tioga spyder saddle? if so what are your thoughts.

I did, only said noise issues, I just ordered some cogs from him so I wanted to confirm. Thanks for your response. and yeah, I should have just continued my search, I haven't had a day off in 11 days (working 12 hour nights) so please excuse my handicapped moment.

Scrod, saw that Leader 722 geo chart you posted recently but it didn't have info on the 61cm. Got any info on top tube length, standover height? I heard Leaders run a little big, which would be perfect cuz my current 61cm frame is apparently a little small. Any truth to that? Thanks.
|
Leaders are notorious for being longer and lower than other frames.
Someone in the 'Leader Love' thread just picked up a 61cm and was supposed to post measurements but I don't see them. |
i got mine because they run long and low, seat tube on my 58 is the same as my 55 scrambler, but the tt is an inch longer
someone measured the 61 recently: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...1#post14464241 /notscrod /edit: scrod it was in the quoted part, measured in inches :) |
Thanks. Damn tho. Was about to place an order for a 61cm 722ts frameset from city grounds but it sounds like it may not be big enough for me. Sick of my **** brown budget Lager and want a real bike... But affordable. That deal at city grounds is too good to pass up no? $250 shipped for 722ts and leader 803 fork

Would it be jack if I put track grips on compact drops?
|
If you mostly ride in the drops, not at all.
|
Why does Lizard Skins suggest you do not stretch them during application? I followed their directions and didn't stretch while applying but now they're kinda loose on my bars. If I torque on the bars hard enough, they move. Maybe Imisunderstood their directions? Why would they not want you to wrap the bars tight?
|
Its okay to stretch it a little but if you overdo it the outer layer separates from the foam underneath and gets all wrinkly.

Scrod, are the FSA track rings you sell a matte black finish? Or are they polished
